Welcome to the Vault

In the year 299, the King of the Magical Crypts ordered for the construction of a sealed Vault.
His claim was that in doing so, no matter what befell the Dwarven Kingdoms and peoples, dwarves would always live on.
So, in the early Spring of the year 300, 7 dwarves were sent out to begin construction of their King's dream.
They were given 5 years to build the vault and seal themselves off from the outside world for all eternity.
So begins the story of Stonelock: The Fiery Vault

Welcome to the newest Succession fortress. The goal is clear, our King has ordered us to delve a secure Vault in this Volcano. This is no easy task to begin with, but we have a mere 5 years to do it.

The first five to sign up will be responsible for building and supplying the Vault, the rest are responsible for keeping order in the Vault. Will we make it one year or 100? We won't know till we die.

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

Journal of Ryukan, 14th of Granite 300

His majesty, in all of his splendor and wisdom, has seen it fit to build a vault to safeguard the dwarven race against the ravages of this world. I, being the most experienced (and also not being married or having any real ties that would get in the way) was chosen to lead 6 other dwarves and begin construction. We are far enough away that Goblins will not be an issue, but we must keep on guard for other nasties.

On the slopes of a volcano is where our Lake of Magma will be, we will use the natural magma of the volcano to fill up the basin where the fort will be.

With our royal budget, we managed to procur enough supplies to where we can mainly focus on digging for the time being.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We also procured a few animals to keep up with a balanced diet. I chose chickens because they needn't eat anything and would make the perfect livestock for the Vault. Cats and Dogs help with moral and cats keep the pests down.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The 7 of us constitute the scouting party, we will recieve more Dwarves over the years to help with our efforts. We have 2 miners, a Carpenter, a Mason, 2 Farmers, and me the Leader.

The name of our new Fortress and Group seemed rather easy enough.

After many days of travelling, we arrived at our volcano. It rises far into the sky and promises a great place for a secret Dwarf Society. Tho I hear Grizzly Bears might be a problem for us early on...

I will update you once we get some temporary lodgings set up and work has commenced on the Vault itself.

Any preferences of your dorfings?

Journal of Ryukan, 20th of Felsite 300

With Summer here, I find some spare time to write on our progress. After surveying the land I found a nice spot for the resevoir. I ordered all the trees cut down to clear it out. I also had our miners mining our simple lodgings into the mountain peak.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

After a while, I ordered out miners to begin mining out the veins of sweet Hematite that stuck out of the mountain in many different places. I reckon there is enough exposed Hematite to last us a few decades.

Not much of note occured here these past few months, its been mostly auto piloting these tasks and just waiting. We're expecting our first migrant wave next month that will boost out number two-fold. In the meantime, the Basic living quarters for the construction crew is finished, with some farms down south.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I had a chat with a few of my fellow dwarves today as well, learned a bit about each of them.

First we have MoonytheDwarf. The lad seems to know a thing or two, but forgets it most of the time. He seems very strong as well. He is also very impatient as well, I don't blame him. The sooner the better I always say.

Spoiler: Moonythe Dwarf (click to show/hide)

Second we have Glass. Glass is one of those people that you just open up to without even knowing it. He's always so friendly and never concedes defeat. He may be a tad clumsy and impatient, but who ain't here?

Spoiler: Glass (click to show/hide)

Then we have his almost polar opposite Doubloon Seven. This Dwarf has the intellect of a 1000 year old scribe and possesses a good head on his shoulder. Problem is, like all good academic types, he's really quiet and reserved. He ain't a weakling tho, dwarf claims to never have gotten a cold in his life. Time will tell if he's telling the truth or farting lies.

Spoiler: Doubloon Seven (click to show/hide)

I myself am nothing like these fine dwarves. I'm lazy and I don't have the intellect. But I do sense people tho. That's why I'm the leader I guess, I can see when trouble is brewing and stop it befor eit erupts.

Spoiler: Ryukan (click to show/hide)

I still need to get to know the other three dwarves we have here, but I'll do that later, I've wasted enough time writing, time to get back to work.

Making good progress so far, but I can't help but let you know that the bit about never getting a cold is off by miles, to be honest.

PTW. Am currently checking to see whether or not I'd have enough time to sign up for a turn.

In any case, can I get dorfed?

1 turn and 1 dorfing, s'il vous plait.

Will do. I'm currently working on homework, have 4 hours of online videos to watch for my online classes, then I have to start on my work for my actual classes. I'll have a new update ready sometime tomorrow or Friday.
