Different characters?
« on: July 16, 2009, 10:39:55 am »

I'm not sure if it's possible, but can you play as different species? Besides the default Human, Dwarf, and Elf?

And if you can, how do you do it?

(It's would be so awesome to play as a bronze colossus and tear apart anyone in your path  :D )

Thanks in advance.

Did this a long time ago so im not sure if this is right.
Go to the entities file.

[ENTITY:ENTERRANDOMSHITHERE]
[CREATURE:(name of creature here)]
[ADVENTURE_TIER:4] (keep adding 1 for each other AM creature)

If 4 doesn't work try 5.

I couldn't get it to work very well...

I found a file called "entity_default" and just added [INDIV_CONTROLLABLE] above the Goblin entity.

I could play as a goblin, but it wasn't what I was expecting it to be.

you can only play as a "play now" character of course, so you have no skills. Its best to make a nice kickass character if you want to so that. Like my dwarven wargod, with poisonous stabbing tentacles and impenetrable steel skin.

The easiest way is to just take a vanilla creature or race and edit it. I started with an iron man myself. Here's the tokens http://dwarf.lendemaindeveille.com/index.php/Creature_token to help you. If you have any questions just ask either me or on the modding board

Thank you for that!

Now I got to make my fire-breathing, black goo oozing, emotionless death machine I've always wanted! ;D

Player characters can't breathe fire. You can create a race that has that capacity and they will use it if controlled by the computer but you can't use it yourself unfortunately. The [IMMOLATE] tag is usually just as good though

you could set your temp to 100000000 and your own heat damage points to 100000001. That way everything combusts except you.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Probably the easiest thing would be to use a spirit of fire and just build off that, since its temp and tags are all set up

true. I want EVERYTHING to combust the instant I appear on a map. EVERYTHING. I want demons to die in the wave of heat I give off, or else be crushed by the molten obsidian of their own fortresses.

well you could melt any stone blocks, but not the earthen parts of the fort. Mostly because then you'd just burn a hole straight down and be trapt there.
