This is a utility for viewing the detailed maps exported from legends mode in a more user friendly format.

Instructions:

go to legends mode in DF, and export, at minimum, the following detailed maps:
Code: [Select]
Elevations including lake and ocean floors
Elevations respecting water level
Biome
Structure/fields/roads/etc.
The rest are optional.

then use this program to open any of them, and it'll display whichever maps are exported.

To generate higher detailed maps of your adventures, make sure you have a relatively recent DFHack installation, then click connect while the game is running.

New stuff:
-Added support the new map naming sceme.

Download The beta version here.

There is a lua script that can be used together with DFHack to export all of the used maps at once.

Source can be found on github, though it is highly reccomended to compile it as part of DFHack

Absolutely loving this so far probably planned later but a minimap type thing would be useful for figuring out what part of the world you're viewing at the moment.

Also this really makes me wish my adventurer had scuba gear and that there was more things to look at in the ocean.

Pretty sure it's the deepest part of my world.

I like it.

It'd make a great fortress viewer as well. Clean graphic style and vibrant colours are very nice to look at.

there already is an isometric fortress viewer. you can even get this kind of look from it by changing a couple lines in a text file.

these colors won't stay as the default.

Point me to one that works with .17 . I'm having fun with a little fort of mine and I really want to visualize my steep, steep cliffs.

New version is up.

there's a minimap now, and it'll automatically load the last opened map.

This looks really great, but any chance of a Mac-compatible version?

Dwarven blood types are not A, B, AB, O but Ale, Wine, Beer, Rum, Whisky and so forth.
It's not an embark so much as seven dwarves having a simultaneous strange mood and going off to build an artifact fortress that menaces with spikes of awesome and hanging rings of death.
