Operation Hellstorm (Succession Game)
« on: October 26, 2011, 07:17:13 pm »

Note: For the sake of this thread, I, nor am I expecting the players of this community game, am not censoring DF spoilers. If you do not want vanilla DF to be spoiled, do not read any more past this point. Point.

This is a modded comunity game, not starring Dwaves, but...

That right.
We are going to be worms.

Here are a few basic facts about who we are playing before we discuss the mission at hand.

1)   They do not need to eat or drink, as they absorb nutrients from the ground.
2)   They are small, only between 1/5 and 1/6 the size of an average adult dwarf.
3)   They therefore have unique weaponry, such as small katana.
4)   They lay eggs in order to reproduce.
5)   They are hatred by and hate in return almost every other Civilization out there. Might be something to do with how violent they are, and their baby-stealing tendencies.
6)   They are very good at taming animals.
7)   They are angrier than a sober dwarf who lost his kitten.

Now that you know a bit about these small angry bastards, here is your mission. You will accept it.

The worms have always been at war with other civilizations. They are considered the civilized version of vermin; they are violent, small, weak, stupid, and there are too damn many. The worms have been subjected to horrible things such as storms of arrows, war elephants, dwarvern atom smasher, magma cannons, and other painful things. One day the UberLord (the overlord that rules over the Home Base) came up with a plan. He gathered supplies, many badgers, and seven worms, and gave them a mission.

“I have a mission that needs fulfilling. For too long, we have been considered nothing more than walking bags of loot for adventures, and target practice for the dwarves and their magma cannons. But, you and I have heard of things known as Demons, from a place deep underground, known as Hell. And of course, there are cursed places where the undead rise. We, as worms, have been able to tame almost anything we have come across, to badgers, to unicorns, to dwarves babies. I want you to go, find a cursed place, and build a fortress there. Find a way to either tame or weaponize the undead. Then, dig down to hell. Colonize Hell. Tame Hell. Weaponize the demons. Destroy our foes. With this weapon, not even the dwarves’ magma cannons will stop us from overrunning their forts, and capturing their babies! Go forth, and COMMENCE OPERATION HELLSTORM!

Rules of the Succession Game.

1)   Each Player (Known as an Overlord from now on) will play one in-game year. They will  write about what happen as a diary entries from the perspective of their character (the Overlord of course). We will be keeping those on a separate thread, for organization sake. This thread will be used to recruit overlords and people wishing to be “wormed” (dorfed), and to make comments and give advice to the Current Overlord (Advice: More badgers!). Overlords will be given three days, once it is their turn, to say that they have claimed their turn, then they will be given one week to complete their year and give the save file to the next Overlord. First come, first served. I’m won’t be playing a round due to time restraints (I can moderate this thread and make sure the game is running and the rules are followed, I just can’t play a year for now. College is a pain.)
2)   There are a variety of objectives that need to be done. The Uberlord wants food to feed his slaves, he wants a breeding pair of every animals, he wants to tame the undead, he wants a magma cannon of his own. But, the ultimate objective is to Tame Hell. This can be accomplished by any means, and there is no time limit. In addition, there are infinite reclaims should a fortress fall. (unless the fortress is irreclaimable due to being buried under magma or something, or we don’t have any overlords left.). I will handle the reclaiming process.
3)   Noobs can play.
4)   You may not intentionally destroy the fortress. Just don’t.
5)   Do not flame or complain if you don’t like what your previous Overlords has done (expect in character when writing diaries entries.). You’re all Dwarf Fortress Players. Just believe in the power of Love (Or magma.).
6)   According to the Wormish Code, worms may never lock themselves in their fortress or a room should enemies attack. They can use any means to destroy them, long hallways full of traps, hit and run tactics, cavern collapse, trapping the enemies, it just that the worms may themselves never lock themselves in a room in order to hide from the enemies. All worms, even the children and the sick, are expected to fight. We must reverse the oppression that the worms have suffered for years.
7) Do not go looking in the Raws and talking about modded monsters that haven't been discovered in the game (or engraved about by the worms.).
8) No hacking. Dwarf Therapist only (If that would even work with this mod.).

Note: 1) This is in original ACSII graphics. Just letting you all know.

This seems... interesting. I might join if I have the time.
Also, you might want to change it to Succession Game in the title, to avoid confusion.

I guess I will take a turn...

It may be subject to movement, though.

And I'm newer at the game, but I think I grasp the basics.

Well you see, I believe the point of a succession game is to make an amusing story. Death and destruction makes for amusing stories. So really, the newer you are, in theory, the more eventful the story is. So, EMBRACE THE NEWNESS, AND GO DO...Whatever it is you're planning on doing.

Since Melkor haven't claimed the first turn yet, go ahead and take it.
