Damn, I should have known better than to spend half an hour setting up a proper embark in the new version only to find my dwarves set up camp right next to a flock of undead owl men. The trees look really cool though.

I'm reading Legends for my freshly-genned world. I just discovered a dwarven necromancer who was evidently obsessed with the history and culture of dwarves, writing such timeless masterpieces as The Dwarf: A Brief History, The Dwarf: Principles and Practice (the sequel?), The Dwarves And Nothing More and The Dwarves, My Love.

He wrote a bunch of different things too, so it's probably not a bug. He is just that obsessive about dwarves.

Also, in the arena, I accidentally set up a guy I was trying to fight as an ally. I killed him anyway, but afterwards my character had tears on his face.

We are doomed. It's just that whatever is going to kill us all just happens to be, from a scientific standpoint, pretty frickin' awesome.

Is anyone else getting massive framerate drops when the caravan arrives?

I was just in a bustling cross roads at a human hamlet. I saw a gemcutter get robbed by a swordsman. The swordsman very clearly targeted him after asking him what he was doing, and ignored a bunch of farmers walking in the area. He demanded that the gemcutter yield like ten times, without success,(the gemcutter kept saying "No!" and calling the swordsman a coward. The swordsman finally wielded his weapons and donned his armor, then demanded that the gemcutter drop his bag. The gemcutter complied. The bag contained some gold pieces and whatnot. A nearby hammerman and bowman were verbally cowering in fear - not sure if they were with the swordsman or just bystanders. The swordsman demanded another item from the gemcutter, got it, and then walked away without a word.
As the swordsman walked off the gemcutter said to him "that is terrible" ;) Then when I asked the gemcutter about the incident a moment later he just said "it was inevitable". Resigned to his fate apparently. I assume the swordsman was part of the bandit gang that another person had mentioned was harassing the town. All in all, the harassing bandit stuff seems to be working pretty well.

Pretty EPIC to watch that unfold. And to think this is just the first pass on the activated world! Adventure Mode just officially got like 1000% better.

I had the oddest time with a bandit camp.

I basically tried to claim the camp and they went "this must be stopped" I even could ask them... Where I was... and they didn't know.

I beat up someone and demanded they drop their stuff.

This is a wonderful thing.

I've been stressing out about exams, my future and the futility of my pathetic existence. Now I'm happy again! Thanks Toady!

I met such a nice Stout Fellow that goes by the name of trans_name]

Oddly enough whenever I asked them to yield... It gave me the option to instead.

2427 is the most online (not sure how far the forum history tracks this from?), and it's done today. So no wonder there's all these "500 Internal server error" messages!

This far, most of the bugs I've found have been... entertaining ;)

Dangit, I have assignments to do!
I guess...I'll just wait for the bugfix patch.

How bad are the bugs and crashing and such, so far?

2008.

But, anyway, it couldn't have been more because the server is limited.

I'm playing Fortress, and I haven't crashed once, through saves or anything else. And the game seems to be playing.. well, exactly as it used to, aside from giant trees and more wood than I know what to do with. No real bugs that I've seen so far (not to say I don't believe the other people that have reported them :D) None of my migrants have been hostile, ran into a number of animals but nobody's freaked out from fear (yet), not having brewing problems, haven't seen any birds forget they can fly/run into trees and rain from the sky... So far so good. If you do try it, just don't generate a large world, because advancing time before it lets you embark can take a looong time (took me almost 2 hours on a 256x256 to get through the calendar so I could embark - 64x64 takes like 5 seconds).

I did try Adventure for a little bit, it seems.. kind of slow. Especially on the 'T'ravel map, it likes to hang every couple steps for a few seconds. But didn't crash in that, either. And I never did play it enough in 34 to know what would be bugged or not :)
