Wrt poor rolls. We can't know how that'll affect things. It could mean we have only rare well-made Chimera. Or we could have Common but badly made. We could get Common, poorly trained bird Squads, or we could get rare, but well trained. Or maybe we'll get Uncommon birds that mostly work but occasionally catch fire. I dunno! This is just conjecture cos none of us are the GM.

Druidism has multiple definitions. It can mean the religious practice, the "Nature Wizard" of Dnd, etc. We get to choose what it means, alongside the DM. It is a broader definition than bio-manipulation, but I can see a lot of value in both, and I would like to do both.

Assuming the enemy do just shoot all birds on sight, that prevents them from doing anything stealthy, ever. Because the moment a scout pulls the trigger, we can hear them. Is that better for them than the bird reporting back, assuming it even is one of our birds.

With the number of birds we consider for the proposal, I think it also depends on how in depth they are. Bird Squads and Avian Agents both focus on multiple naturally occurring species, which makes their hidden-in-plain-sight feature more pronounced.

Bird Squads: (2) m1895, strongpoint
Warrior-class frigate
Protector Cloak
Aegis Horsemen:
Wand of Viscous Fire
Electrical Hand Grenade Mark 1
'Bulwark' Forcefield Harness
Wand of Inferno
Wand Core Rifles
Darkfeather Chimera-bred Birds: (2) Megam0nkey, TricMagic
Aegis Buckler: (1) Kashyyk
Necrografts

Giving Kashyk an opportunity to decide which of 2 bird projects we are going after, better than ending with a tiebreaker roll.

I prefer Bird Squads over Chimera, however if strongpoint wants to swap back to Aegis Buckler I give permission to swap my vote over there as well. I'm not voting for Aegis right now so we don't replace a two way tie with a three way tie.

I will admit to being frustrated that ordinary birds wins out over intelligent birds. How do we get the scouting information out of them?

While the focus of the project is on recon and communications, potential doesn't end there. Flocks can be aggressive if you steer them right. Imagine sending a swarm after an enemy patrol: biting, clawing, diving at faces. Not lethal, maybe, but it’s hard to shoot straight with a beak in your eye. Or train a big bird, something with muscle, to carry a smoke bomb or a grenade (after we develop them!) and drop it dead center in a trench or on a supply wagon. Could be a game-changer.
This also just feels horrible to stick in as an add on that will be reflected. Needing to steer them suggests you don't really have any control of them. Compared to birds that can be taught the value of rewards, memorize places as well as any Pidgeon, and adapt to solve for problems in their duties. All in one bird, rather than various ones of bird squads that all need training.

Or this could be me needing bed.
