Tweak for 39e
« on: July 24, 2008, 06:23:42 pm »

I'd like to use reveal and find the magma on this map so I can play with it, but Tweak needs some tweaking first.  It gives a "could not find a version, after doing a "Select Process", for the following hash: 32f68422f5b4d938549eed0565bcfb92.  I'm assuming this means there's something Rick needs to do first, but I also wonder about the LookupAddresses module--isn't looking up for new versions what it's meant to do?  If I can't select the process, I can't run LookupAddresses, but don't I need to run LookupAddresses to be able to select the process?

LookupAddresses doesn't actually do anything.

The versions are stored in versions.xml, which references the folder to look into for the data needed to work with the new version. You can easily make a version folder and use the hash to have it select the right folder and such, but you would have to get the information that tells Tweak where to find the variables that lets it change things.

I don't know how to get the offsets for that, though. If I did I would make the updated files for tweak - I'd like to use reveal too, I have a map with seemingly no iron and would like to see if there actually is any before I completely swiss cheese my mountain haha.

Hey, thanks. I really need to learn how to look up those addresses, I like using reveal on occasion and hate not being able to.

Using it now has revealed that my entire 4x4 map (which by rock type should have been littered with it) is completely devoid of iron.

About 2/3 of the area has a double obsidian layer and the other 1/3 has a limestone layer. All of which can have hematite, and magnetite can be in the limestone, and nothing... I sure did get some bum luck on the random mineral generation on this map haha. Not even any gold or platinum, just loads of silver and copper. When I embarked I thought this would be a steelmaking paradise, loads of flux and loads of iron bearing layer rock. At least I'm at war with the goblins, maybe they'll send me some steel soon.

If the goblins are at war with you, you'll have no shortage of iron. :P

Thats what I thought, but after 5 years they still haven't attacked. I have this big military equipped with bone crossbows and obsidian swords and nothing to kill with it :)

I know they were at war when I embarked, but I can't see them in the civ list since they haven't established contact yet and thus can't see if they are still at war.

Oh well, I guess if they never show up I haven't much need for steel armor anyway.

Lookup addresses is intended to eventually allow for scanning of patterns to find specific addresses, it has not been fleshed out with patterns yet.

About Adjust Start ;
Is it confirmed as working? My game crashes any time i try to embark after picking equipment and dwarf skills while Adjust Start.
I just wanna make a generational fortress, as in start with a dwarven couple to fornicate up a fortress.
Also I removed crossbows, made elves siegers and I intend to steal everything the mountainhomes've got.. And I'm starting out in between three goblin forts.
Without starting equipment.
I'll have to download 39c i guess.

EDIT: also does not work with 39c, checking officially(as is included in the original Gibbed's version list) supported version b.
EDIT: version 39b does also not work.

While the others lasted all the way through the equipment selection and at least gave an air of working properly until implementation, b gave up and crashed the game when pressing 'e' for embark from the map screen.
Am I at fault, or how long has Adjust Start malfunctioned?

EDIT: Solved all this. It seems that when i try to start out with LESS than 7 dwarves, the game crashes! Version B still is a lost cause though, but it seems to have passed in time.
I guess I'll have to dig a pit to trick them into or send them out to wrestle wolves to weed the weak ones from the pack.

uhh, I'm not really officially supporting this or anything, just posted what i could manage to get working for 39e, which is what i use, and everything works for me except for heal, (which can be done with dwarf companion, so go grab that) adjust profile (also can be done with dwarf companion, sort of, only after you've embarked though) and warp, which require a memory address i cant yet find

Does Enable Magma Buildings work with this version of tweak? The version I have crashes dwarfort.exe when I try it.

EDIT: Nope, it doesn't. Causes a crash when you use it.

Have any Vista users succeeded in getting Tweak to run? It crashes on start every time.

I use vista, used Tweak just for a reveal at the end of a fort.  It crashed when I first got it, but once I updated the .NET framework software it worked fine.

That's what I get for not paying attention. Wiki says I need .NET 3.5, 2.0, and 1.1 installed at the same time. Seems like a bit of overkill. I had 3.5 and thought I was good.

Hmmm... I only downloaded and installed 3.5 and it worked.  Brand new comp, not sure what else was/is installed.

Sorry for my incompetence. I didn't have any version of .NET installed. Blame it on me running through countless installs of Windows and forgetting what is and is not installed.
