Oh the dwarfanity!
« on: August 06, 2010, 05:02:27 pm »

I got bored with my fortress due to a massive drop in FPS, and decided rather than flood it or just abandon it, to kill it off spectacularly.

So I constructed a ceiling over the open-air meeting place, and this ensued.

Warning: It's a big image!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

51 dwarves dead, 30 pets dead, and at least 10 died later, and the cave-in carved a huge hole through three floors. The 38 dwarves remaining started to tantrum spiral, and a child got possessed and made the saddest little artifact ring, but then everyone's mood stabilized somehow. So I abandoned it anyway out of spite.

I planned to go back in Adventure mode to move all the goodies to my new fortress, but it's completely impossible to find. :(

Awesome, but going back to an adventure fort crashes a lot due to sheer item count. Item smash everything you don't want your adventurer to find.

Almost as fun as collapsing a whole z-level  :D. Also, you might wana fix your raws. Looks like you moved the save from Phoebus to DFG.

No, that's just JPG compression distorting the colours. The filesize is huge even so! Or do you mean something other than the colour?

Your walls are made out of prepared meals and there are bats in them as well...

Oh. Huh. I've never noticed the batwalls before (And this is pure DFG), and that's not a prepared meal, it's blood from the splattered dwarves.

So? He just embarked on a site with a batstone layer, that's all.
