Anvil Trap?

Is it possible to make a trap that drops anvils on enemies heads?

Pressure plate linked to a hatchcover above it, with an anvil placed on the hatch. That'll possibly do the trick.

Lol, I love it. I swear the DF community is capable of finding a solution for anything :D

Be careful setting the pressure plate or it will not go off when the emaciated FB roadrunner goes over it, but instead will go off after a dwarf jumps up and down on it several times.

Thanks.
I want to put one in my house. Might be too dangerous though?

About danger: There is some, but not much. A, friendlies who get stunned, unconscious, or fall asleep on a pressure plate will probably set them off. B, some enemies won't set off the pressure plates. C, some enemies will, by luck or toughness, not be killed.

If I drop them from higher up, will that make them more dangerous?

I wonder if we can mod Stonefall traps to use other items, or if they're hardcoded...

You could drop a really heavy FB that would go down with a huge THUD.
But your hauler might die of starvation while trying to move it.

The simplest trap like this would be just a door with the space above it channeled out. If the anvil is dumped on this space, it will drop down onto the first thing to open the door. You could lock the door to stop it being used by anyone but thieves, ready to be unlocked at a time of your choosing.

You may need more than one anvil though. I just tried this on an unarmoured dwarf, and it only knocked him over and stunned him, with some minor bruising.

You should put a garbage dump on it.
