Just found this, and it was such a cool idea that I stopped lurking long enough to make an account and try it. Wasn't really sure what I am supposed to draw, so I just went with Omu, as shown by Paaaad. This was supposed to be a very quick painting, taking only about 2 hours or so to draw.

Warning, the image is pretty big!

Omu was a forgotten beast. It was the only one of its kind. A great feathered ribbon worm. It has a square shell and it is ravening. Its light brown feathers are long and broad. Beware its deadly spittle! Omu was associated with water, jealousy, and caverns.

In a time before time, Omu began wandering the world.

I didn't notice the bad looking feathers on his back until just now. Might go back and change that later--I was originally using a different colored background, and it looked fine then.

Maaan, this was fun. Let me know if I messed something up or didn't do this right--first post on the forum and all.

Congrats! All of them were very good, but Loam's pieces had a certain ambience to them that was very much "BY ARMOK WE'RE BURNING". Now, initiate the next forgotten beast! 

Also, that is a very cool ribbon worm. I approve.

Oh I see... I just re-read the rules and apparently missed the part about the current beast being chosen by the last winner the first time. So I DID draw the wrong thing.

Oh well. It was fun to draw regardless.

It was really good. I think it might have won had it been...ya know...the actual competition

Wow. I just decided to throw something unique out there during the lull... And... Wow.

So I haven't played DF in quite a while; I just pulled these up from Legends so there's no stories behind them. Not yet, at least.

Sanene Slevinamenari, "Sanene Demonfiends"
A towering skinless cavy. It has a pair of knobby antennae and it undulates rhythmically. Beware its deadly spittle!
Associated with depravity and caverns.

Ned, "Ned" (I just like the name)
A towering skinless crocodile. It has a square shell and a bloated body. Its eyes glow amber. Beware its deadly blood!
Associated with water, jealousy and caverns.

Ooh, the crocodile one is nice. Both a shell and the skinless aspect help to make it sound appropriately depraved for a creature called "Ned". And I haven't seen the "Its eyes glow ..." bit before.
