Could I have Frost come at some point? I don't mind waiting.

Easy enough, sure.

Poll is leaning highly towards yes for now, going to gen a new world and search for a good embark in the meantime.
If there is an overwhelming majority for "yes, new gen" by tomorrow I'll end the poll early and use the new embark instead.

There, have the new embark prepared, definitely looking like I'll be using this.
These is the new embark party, with skills and character screens, take your picks now if you'd like, I'll update the OP with the new ponies tomorrow and TRY and lift this off by evening (ca 24 hours from now, I guess).

Could I claim Rabbit? Again, drill Sergeant later on if appropriate.

I think it would be clearer who's who if you added special talents of ponies to their list. I know they are in the screenshots, but you list a lot of things already anyway.

That's a lot of ponies specialised in food, you should be happy. Plus that's a lot of good salvage. Normal wood may be a bit of a problem, though.

> Only food is 50 meat, forgot to bring anything else
Meh, just butcher the wagon pullers and set your farmers to gather plants and you should be fine until the first caravan or harvest.

> Goddamned river as opposed to nice safe brook
It will keep at least some of the hostile wildlife away from you. Later you can build a bridge and put cage traps on one end (but leave a 3-wide snaking path for caravans, similar to the entrance of Ponderplanned). River is actually a good thing this way. This is what Master Red Eye teaches us: take what you have and turn it to your advantage.

Carp is pretty harmless if you stay a few tiles from the river. Radigators may be a bit of a problem. Bloodwings can kill ponies quickly, but send two semi-competent soldiers with bronze equipment against one and it dies quickly.

Pink Cloud... well, it is "{m}ilitary -> {a}lerts -> Panic" when it shows up and the game pauses.

Eeeeh, sorry, I am saving Rabbit for P(ony)SI for now since he picked the same pony before I had to regen.
A bit as a favor since I chat with him on steam from time to time.
So I'll want to hear from him first, if he doesn't want her, then you can have her.

Great that you answered your own question, Mak.

I know all that already, but thanks for the advice anyway.

That wasn't a question. It was a low priority request. I didn't answer it and neither did you.

Yeah, I do that sometimes. Since you can survive in a bad biome and I don't even try, that kinda makes you a "better" DF player by default.

I know they are in the screenshots-

I list age, gender, race and skills because those are what matter the most when choosing a pony.
If you want to know what their actual caste is then just check the screenshot and search part of the description of that caste using CTRL+F in the list of castes I compiled.
If their talent wasn't already there in plain view at the bottom of their character screencap then I would have listed it. :P

That's okay...looking at the ponies again, I would like to change my selection to Eagle-she's the one with the military skills (I misread the section initially-I thought rabbit with the military pony!)

I'll take Dell Abbeyplunge please. :)

Also, a fix for a small bug I missed: Open the dfhack.init file in your DF folder with notepad, find this line "keybinding add Alt-F "gui/workflow status"", and change Alt-F to Alt-Y. That way you won't have the chance of accidentally opening the DFhack workflow window while placing cabinets.

Looking forward to the new terrors we'll be faced with. :D

Everything is prepared now.
Yes won by 10 votes, which considering the small number of readers/participants I have can sort of be counted as "an overwhelming majority". Sort of.
I'll wait today and start tomorrow (or if I am lucky and the slots are filled by evening, tonight).

For those who picked a pony before the new embark: I'm sorry, especially for Indigo who wanted a really specific rare'ish caste of pony.
Go ahead and pick a new pony if you want too, or sign on as a migrant.

That's okay...looking at the ponies again, I would like to change my selection to Eagle-she's the one with the military skills (I misread the section initially-I thought rabbit with the military pony!)

Congratulations commander.
Lemon military doctrine follows the same pattern as the German Empire from WW1.

Leader is always at the head of the charge.
May the fruit gods have mercy on your soul.

Noted, thanks.

As for dangers, well, we are surrounded by all enemy civs save for standard raiders apparently with Unity being just on the other side of the mountain not far from our site and the Steel Rangers having some freaky fortress/concentration camp with over 1600 wastelanders in it.
Then, of course, there are the batshit (literally in this case) nutty local wildlife to worry about.
So yeah, this will be fun.

Good! That means all the glory will be mine! And when I receive too many wounds valiantly defending the stable, I can go drill Sergeant on the green recruits! And I read your reply in the X-Com Council Spokesman's voice. That might prove to be worryingly prophetic...

What kind of pony do you want though?
I wont post the character screens or list the migrants when they get here, way too much effort with the amount of migrants I get after just a few sessions.
