They use a completely custom coding language, if people attempt to take it by force the base is nuked, and if the employees take something that could be a real problem they are put on d-class duty. Less severe punishments are given for less severe or more beneficial deals.

...So? Writing something in a different coding language doesn't help. At all. Programming languages are still translated into machine code, otherwise they are meaningless to the computer. Which means that it offers no protection against hacking.

Punishing someone AFTER they leak it doesn't nullify the leak.

They aren't funded entirely by donations. Especially not now that they have the prosthetics and pokemon.

The issue of secrecy being compromised when being funded by donations doesn't just disappear if it isn't being completely funded by donations. What's happening now doesn't matter much to that point either since they've gone public.

Before they went public, how were they remaining secret if they were partially funded from donations?

Companies that would have an interest in magic's technical benefits. Say, Microsoft or Apple being able to make devices that are more energy efficient by generating at least some of their own power.

So you, in however many years it will be after my death when someone listen to this recording, may want to ask, why we don't do good. Because there nothing to use it on. Crimes are sorted by the police, there are no supervillians. Third world's problems better solved by smart ideas then someone with power.

Which of course, raises the question of what the fuck IRIS was doing before the invasion, seeing as it means that they would have been kidnapping people not random aberrations.

I think the question is, What were Yuri's family and IRIS doing before the invasion?
You and @Ragnarok should have read the OP of the thread for the game you both signed up for! That setting detail is enforced by the GM's authority, if people were aware of magic prior to the specified point in time, world history could have gone quite differently, requiring the entire setting to be changed.
I think Yuri's family were just trying to gain power, they had nothing to do with containing magical threats.
As for IRIS which actually has a set goal in containing entities, then I would presume they were either kidnapping magic users and experimenting on them, no better than that corporation in @Projeck's plot. Or they were accessing eldritch realms like the void and kidnapping their entities, which still isn't any better than the aforementioned corporation.

Fairly certain this is falling into GM jurisdiction since Scapheap was the one that let Yuri's thing go on and Elf is the one who was okaying the lore for IRIS. And really now's a bit late for you to bring that up.
