Leo seemed surprised by the hug, but after a moment of awkwardness, he put his arms around her waist and hugged her back.

"I promise. I'll do my best to get all of us through this, or die trying. And you know I keep my promises come hell or high water."

Sheila drew back. Leo hesitated for a moment.

"Oh to hell with it."

Perhaps to her surprise, he stepped forward, put his hands on her hips, and pulled her in for a quick kiss on the lips.

[Furtuka]

"Thank you for the words of support I guess. It can't hurt to try."

Maybe he had misjudged these mercenaries...

[Haspen]

Matilda was talking with Yonn for a while now and she made a surprised gasp.

"You want us to do what?"

"What else you could do? Eul couldn't appear out of thin air with his troops so it's obvious that they did take over the harbor."

"That's too crazy even for me. Our weapons aren't in good shape and Leo lost all his healing staves." Yonn looked at Matilda, then at the kissing pair, and then walked up to one of the troubadours. After a brief talk with her, she gave her lord the simple staff, and Yonn then ventured forth to Leo.

"Sorry for barging on your little corpse-surrounded moment of love, but it will dangerous for a while longer, priest, so take this."

Leo gets Heal staff! Shimmering Shimmy passed to Candy.

[SeriousConcentrate]

Leo's eyes widened and he immediately took a step back, clearing his throat as Yonn approached.

"...!"

"Right. Well. Thank you for this. I'll put it to good use."

First he has great timing, then he has poor timing. How inconsistent.

[Haspen]

"So what do you want us to do exactly?"

"Enter the harbor and throw up a bit of chaos, maybe kill some soldiers, hold the gatehouse or torch a warehouse. I'm going to backtrack to my castle a little and raise a host of riders. With time difference at mind, I should arrive shortly after you begin the attack, and when that happens the Imperial soldiers at the harbor will either have to surrender or die messily."

"..." Matilda looked at the mercenaries nearby. "...Allright. We will do that. The faster I let these people get off the island, the better." She turned to the mercenaries.

"You heard him, right? We don't have to do another grisly combat. Let's just go and make a ruckus." In the meanwhile, Yonn moved to Ciera.

"Ciera, I would like you to go with these people. I've seen you in combat, and, well, you need more practice. Help them with their task, is that clear?"

[Sirus]

Grifen stared at Matilda, flabbergasted.

: "...ya can't be serious. How're we supposed to cause a ruckus with our stuff in such bad shape?" She shook her crossbow for emphasis. "If this here thing's got even ten shots left in it I'll be amazed."

[Haspen]

"We stormed one of the largest and best defended castles, and now just killed an Imperial Commander. One of most powerful men in the world. I think we can do a little skirmish with bunch of sailors, too."

[Haspen]

Therefore, the mercenaries were led by Matilda to the harbor, to wrestle it from Imperial control and thus get means to leave the isle of Kretos once and for all. Hopefully!

~~Chapter 6: Seaside Rampage~~

The road to the harbor was a simple one. The banner of Kretos is missing, one clue that the harbor was taken. The other, more numerous clues, were soldiers in dark armors of the Empire, running between the tightly clustered buildings or manning the guardposts and watch towers.

And inside the harbor...

"What do you mean Eul's mages haven't send a message yet? They should be at Red Castle by now!"

"I just can't, Commodore!" A woman in her thirties and exquisite, flowing robe frantically rubbed a crystal sphere. "They're just not responding to my hails!"

"Blast, what that boy got himself into? Try again, and then once more! An Imperial Commander doesn't just dissappear without a trace!"

At the gates.

"You! Lower your weapons and identify yerselves!"

"Oh, sure!" Matilda brandished her spear at the guard. "I'm Matilda, and you're dead!" The guards looked at her in blank surprise, and then yelled an alarm.

This got the attention of two people inside a small cell...

"Hmm... something's going on, don't you think, miss Cyra?" The man moved to the door, his left lame leg causing him to shake a little, as he tried to listen through the crack in the wooden door.

~~Player Turn 1~~

"Ciera, am I right? Have you been here? Do you know the harbor's layout? Such information would be of great help now."

Objectives:
This is a bonus chapter!
Sweep the harbor clean for phat lewt, fancy drops, recruits and extra levels,
OR
Camp at the entrance and have a picnic till Yonn's troops arrival at turn ??

He held out his arms with his palms facing each other, and sparks began to dance between them.

: "I told you all this fairy magic stuff was real, but to be honest, I kind of didn't believe it. At least not compared to your weird light magic stuff. Have you been practicing too?"

Sheila smiled warmly at Leo, the sensation of his lips against hers already replaying itself on a loop in her mind. Her expression quickly changed to a wicked grin. "So, does this mean we can do the sort of 'things' couples do?"

Present Time

"Much as I hate to say it, not taking care of these losers ourselves is gonna cause Yonn's troops plenty of grief. Let's get in there and at least wear 'em down."

Sheila moves to 16,15 and hits the Imperial Guardian with her Boarding Axe!

Earlier

"Maybe not... 'all.' That's a big step. I just..."

He sighed. It was obvious that being caught had flustered him considerably.

"I'll... consider it."


Now:

"I agree. I think we'll need Efa's arms in top condition for this..."

Leo to 14,18 and Transfer Might +8 to Efa!

"I hope you don't mind backing up Sheila."

Alec's ear perked when listening in on Matilda and Yonn's earlier conversation.
: "Still set on sending these mercs off, huh? Even now that we know the Empire's going to be hot on their tails?"
Alec sighed and pulled his flute at the ready.
: "Regardless, we need to have a talk about what our next steps are going to be, very soon."

[Haspen]

Sheila ran over and delivered smackings of insurrection upon the Guardian who crumpled over. Not before hurting her a bit, though.

Hit: 120+15+10-22 = 123, autohit!
Damage: 47+1-21 = 27dmg
