No. They should both be fine, using the same skills and same ammo type.

Just dumped the hunter's bow of choice (Recurve bow); only other bow is Composite bow. Composite bow is also manually set for Hunter's military equipment.

To verify hunter's refusal to equip Composite bow for hunting, go to Trade Depot and reclaim Recurve bow. Hunter will immediately go to equip Recurve bow.

Save here.

on my way to start a new fort, 5.0.5.

DFhack gets a wall of red.
AddMinionToCiv is not a recognized command.
AddMountToCiv is not a recognized command.
AddPackToCiv is not a recognized command.
AddPullToCiv is not a recognized command.
AddWagonToCiv is not a recognized command.
AddPetToCiv is not a recognized command.
points is not a recognized command.
dwarves is not a recognized command.
No such plugin: fix-armory.

edit: and the change to starting number of dwarves from the GUI did not hold, i still had the default 7.
edit2: and a quick test, the comands of "startdwarf" and "points" are not working when typed into the console.
edit3: I made a copy of the world, and embark anyways. Go to add some stuff to embark with, the pet list is BLANK.

edit4: nm, figured it out. Turns out, that if you use any alt-codes in the folder name, DFhack really doesnt like it. I removed the ☼ from the folder name, and all was peachy.

Hope you like it, I am never sure if people actually use the decorations or not. ;)

Yes, Meph, AAMOF I have macros to create carpeted hallways in my living blocks, and parquet floors everywhere else :)

just had the elves arrive at my trade deport but they didn't have anything to trade, even weirder is that i thought they died out in world gen

I have a fresh install of 5.05 using default everything except number of embarking dwarves, which I set to 1. I still had seven dwarves when I got the embark screen. Is it something I'm doing wrong, or is it a bug?

EDIT: dfhack gives the error readout:

E: RuntimeError: ./hack/scripts/dwarves.rb:5: too low
  ./hack/scripts/dwarves.rb:5

You can't set the number of dwarves less than 7. No idea why, but you cant. Sucks, I know.

[EDIT] Have you thought of using something like the emigration script to force the population cap to be obeyed? I know a lot of people want the population cap setting to be more of an actual setting and less of a suggestion. :)

[EDIT x2] Can't get any less than seven. Tried using the startdwarf script, same error as above for all below 7. :(

Quick question, what's the dfhack command to fix left/right handedness of gauntlets?

Using the create lamellar armor set gives a bunch of gauntlets that orcs don't want to use.
