Don't go over the top straight away, stick to the metaphorical ground.

And for the love of god, think of a good story. One more crappy mecha backstory and I think I'll start a fire.

Yeah, but with less dysentery and more focus on not starving/being outplayed by merchants/robbed by bandits/dealing with rogue gods.

go look at tvtropes, and make a character based on their own merit as a character, rather than archetypes or 'you know what would be so cool?!?'

I wonder, why would oxyidzing things even be air-magic?

I mean, oxygen is a gas contained in air, but does that mean fine-level quantum manipulations of said oxygen, so it oxidzies things, eventhough that would chemicaly be impossible? Sounds more like chemistry-magic to me. I mean, reactive Oxygenic species need very complicated and elaborate enzymes to be actually made reactive. And there is certainly none of those floating around.

If oxidizing things is wind magic, then wind magic is also fire mavic considering that fire is pretty much the plasma of oxidated particles.
