Sand zones and hauling

So. I have a sand zone to feed my desire for magma pumps.

My sand gatherers are leaving the filled sand bags in the sand zone, when there is a perfectly good empty sand bag stockpile next to my glass furnace.

Is there a way to deal with this?

did you set the sand bag (furniture) stockpile to accept leather, silk, plant cloth and yarn? If not, no sand bag will be hauled there.
Also, don't forget to let it accept all qualities.

EDIT: also make sure you did not press (a) accidentally on that stockpile, setting it to 'accept from link only'

My sand bag stockpile accepts all materials and qualities. The dwarves were quite happy to haul my original stock of sand bags to it, and it has no links.

Odd. Did you go into options and disallow hauling furniture?

If all else fails, (p) >> (x) remove stockpile, make new one.

Filling the bag ("Collect Sand") and moving the filled bag to the stockpile ("Store Item in Stockpile") are two totally separate jobs, and may not be done by the same dwarf.

That said, there are many reports of mysterious problems with stockpiles.  If the bags aren't being moved at all, and you're 100% certain it's not a settings issue, then it's probably some kind of bug.
