"..." Emma looks surprised, and you can briefly see panic in her eyes. She stutters, "N-No one told you?"

"You were asleep for nearly a month, Pheobe...But you just slept. Silas said you were in hibernation, like...like a mountain rabbit. It was all we could do to keep changing the bandages and hope you wouldn't bleed to death in the meantime." She doesn't seem clear on the specifics, explaining the best she can. "They took out your saline drip yesterday when you started warming up again. Silas giggled like a little girl when you proved him right."

"Was there any discussion among the higher-ups about bringing me back to the Holy City, ostensibly to be seen by SEED?"

"If there was, it didn't succeed," Emma responds, shaking her head. "I wouldn't have heard about it. The compound received both you and William directly from the transport ship. You've been here since. You're being sent to the Defensive Line next after you finish recovery. And the...uh...'funeral'."

I suppose they think they haven't gotten enough use of us yet.

They're right. They'll lose this war without our continued aid, and they know it.

Sigh. "Right."

Speak soft. "A month... so long, and so long for you! I didn't realize-- I didn't realize--"

Hugs.

I still don't know how long we were out in the interim between acts I and II, now I think about it. I assume somebody told Phoebe during whatever timeskip, but we never really asked.

Oh damn, that's a good point.  It never occurred to me for some reason.

The dates were for a reason~
Five months.

"I honestly didn't expect you back so soon. It was good to see you-- even if you were a mess when you arrived." With a grin, returning your hug, she adds, "I'm getting used to it, I guess, as long as you keep springing back like you do, Pheobe."

"Just keep coming back." Emma returns your hug even more tightly, leaning up to kiss you. Her hand comes to caress your side-- and she draws it back suddenly, breaking the kiss to look at the blood on her hand. Then she scowls, as she begins to lecture you, more concerned than genuine anger, "You're walking around without fully healing first?! Back to medical- go! And if you do that healing thing in the hallway, change your uniform!"

"Talk about a mood killer." Emma grumbles, rising to gesture you out the door, wiping the blood off on her napkin with annoyance.

"Thanks Emma, I can always count on you to take care of me.  And don't worry, I will be back."

"Oh-- oh." (Assume a properly sheepish expression.) "Right." Make for the doorway.

"Thanks Emma, I can always count on you to take care of me.  And don't worry, I will be back."

And this for a parting line.
