Bio: Viverna is a dour individual who has always seemed to be out of place no matter where she goes. She has the bearing and armament of a Knight, but fights like a wild beast, substituting raw brute power for speed and finesse. She has studied at Praesidium's university, but has almost never been seen casting a spell, further adding to the mystery behind the woman. Rarely answering questions about her background, her only real connection seems to be to the traveling prodigy, Claus Palermo. Despite her rough attitude towards him, she seems to hold something approaching reverence for the young man - though he himself may not realize this.

Her true origins lie within the depths of Instaurum. She did not begin life as a human at all, but was a humble lizard chosen for a greater destiny at her first breath. Her being was tinkered and tampered with, manipulated and enhanced, until she became something far greater - a sapient instrument of war, bound to obey her creators despite the power of fiery rage that coursed through her veins. Destiny had more twists and turns in mind for her, however. In the madness and hubris of Hohenheim, there was a critical flaw. One of his creations grew to be cleverer than he, and sabotaged his work while he escaped the scientist's confinement. The test subject sought to prevent the creation of more like it, and thus destroyed the facility in which he, Viverna, and a third experiment had been born.

Viverna awoke amongst ruins, battered and broken by the explosion that consumed what was once her home. She limped into the woods, delirious from the pain of her wounds and thrust into a wholly unfamiliar situation. For once, the manmade dragon had not the ability to rage, and thus the third turn in her destiny came about. A certain spellcaster, hell bent on mastering every single form of magic there was to learn, happened across her in the wilds. Amazed by the sight he encountered but kind enough to intervene, he approached and tended her wounds with the white magic he knew.

Though their encounter was brief, she committed his face to her memory. Though she could not banish the urge to obey her superiors that had been instilled in her as a precaution by her creators, she found it within herself to shift that forced loyalty to a person of her choice. Bereft of any life experiences outside that laboratory, of course, she had only one option. By suppressing her own power, she found herself able to take a (mostly) human form, and set off to find this individual who had shown her kindness in her moment of need despite her ferocious nature. She followed his trail to Praesidium, and there she became his erstwhile companion, though he seems as-yet unaware of the nature of this strange woman who has taken it upon herself to see to his safety and success.

Bio:
    Lenn'art was born in a port city, the son of two mildly successful merchants. His upbringing wasn't much to talk about, he was privileged enough to have a stint at an academy, but he lacked much aptitude for what they taught. Lenn'art of course, didn't think that, he thought that it was the fault of his teachers, that their lessons were dull and had too much thinking for his liking. This... rough manner of thinking, as well as the scorn of his family at having an eldest that wasn't adept at magic, is likely what lead him to instead ship off aboard a private vessel for Evrae, seeking to "gather" (looting is such an uncouth word) from the fighting going on around the area and from the ruins of Lumiria, the latter of which being what Lenn'art was more interested in. It is somewhat coincidental then that Lenn'art's ship had struck a hidden reef and unluckily woken some rather nasty sea monsters. The sailors had tried their best to defend the remains of the ship, but in the dark when most of the crew had been asleep they stood almost no chance of organizing an effective resistance. Lenn'art for his part was knocked overboard, eventually coming to in the tent of one of the nomadic clans native to the continent.
    He would later come to find out that he had been found washed up on the beach half-frozen by one of the hunting parties, and they rescued him. The tribe offered to let him stay as long as he wanted or needed provided he pulled his weight, and he of course agreed. The Shaman of the tribe, already having tended to him and generally having more jobs that wouldn't put unneeded strain on Lenn'art worked most closely with him and as such ended up teaching him much, especially in the ways of blue magic, something that surprised Lenn'art, as he had resigned himself a life without magic. For close to two years he stayed with the tribe, feeling that he finally found someplace that he could call a home. But, one night, his mentor approached him, handing him a relic of the tribe telling him that he needed to leave if he was ever to truly find his place. With a heavy heart Lenn'art did as he was told, selling off the artifact for passage back home before heading for Praesidium academy to try and find his true destiny.

Bio: Jaye was born into a poor family living in the slums of The Kingdom of Bisvel. As a child, he liked to play card games against the other people in the slums, to get money. When the civil war began, Bisvel began a draft. Although he had no interest in fighting, he was selected to become a warrior for Bisvel. They taught him how to fight with all different weapons, but he gravitated towards using a bow. He thinks that he likes it because of the slight element of chance that happens when you fire an arrow.

During one of his fights in suppressing the revolutionaries, a man using magick slaughtered most of his comrades, and took the rest as prisoners. He took them to a tower in the Masalka Deadlands, and put them in cages. He called himself Baine, and told Jaye and the others that he was trying to raise an army of mind controlled soldiers to infiltrate Bisvel, so he could become its new king. Soon after he told them this, he cast a spell. Jaye's head felt like it was going to split open, but he still forced himself to resist. He watched in horror as all of the men who he had trained with had turned into mindless puppets. While Baine was distracted controlling his friends, Jaye ran away.

When he reached Bisvel, guards apprehended him. Blaine had already sent a group of mind controlled soldiers to pin the deaths and disappearances which he had cause, on Jaye. Jaye had no choice but to leave Bisvel, and never come back.

Today, he works as a travelling bounty hunter, going from town to town looking for contracts, bounties, and games of luck to play. Eventually, he hopes he can kill the man who ruined his life.

Bio:
Taminal is home to a great many individuals who seek their fortunes at the edge of law and criminality. Outlaws that seek somewhere to hide from the law, mercenaries looking for their next payday, pirates of the Dread Pirate Ashbeard, merchants looking for cheap wares caring not where they're from, or adventurers seeking somewhere to go next; all of these figures make their home in Taminal. Given that the sea is home, road and occupation for many of Taminal's residents, it becomes natural for some to venerate the ocean, with its own folklore and legends around it to ensure luck is on the side of the voyagers of the lawless land; after all, when living upon the frontier of the sea, one knows not when a storm will claim their fleet, or the fleets of a greater nation will apprehend them and put an end to their piratical rampage, or the Dread Pirate Ashbeard find them and inflict countless tortures upon them, or some worse fate, for Fiends dwell where they will. To that end, some venerate the Ahlita Leviathan, creator of the waters, hoping for some boon or safety upon His seas, and no small amount of clerics and priests have devoted themselves to this ramshackle religion, praying to him for safety and a quiet voyage against the fierce and harsh winds of Ziz. They provide some measure of morale boosting to crews that leave or enter Taminal, offering them their services in the worship of Leviathan.

Skadi is one of those priests. Her birthplace was unknown, though Skadi theorises she was born upon one of the ships that frequent the piratical town. She also doesn't remember her parents; she figured that they might have been any one of of the countless individuals that pass through Taminal. Regardless, she was left upon the doorstep of a small ramshackle monastery to Leviathan somewhere in Taminal, and its inhabitants took the abandoned child in. She was raised in the worship of Leviathan, and trained in the odd religion of those who venerated him in Taminal; offering him a coin to pay for passage, or part of the catch from a haul as thanks, and prayers to Leviathan to invoke his will. Of course, Taminal being as lawless as they were, the clergy were trained fighters, and Skadi herself was trained to fight well; though they had clubs mounted with the likeness of their Ahlita, Skadi preferred her fists, which given her immense frame and musculature, were just as painful and crushing.

The teachings of Skadi's order was simple at the core. All the world was a great ocean that cycled infinitely, and all souls were but ephemeral, born to live, swim and die, born from the energy within the world and destined to die returning that energy to other things. The Ahlita moved according to this very law too, and one day, even they would die and return their energy to the world just as they brought them in; their cycles were far longer than all other beings. Leviathan was the greatest Ahlita of all, for he brought into existence the ocean and set forth the Law of Motion for mortals; others were worthy of veneration but Leviathan alone was worthy of a tithe, for he embodied the very concept of motion itself and thus could be called upon for guidance. All souls that lived must continue to move and improve; satisfaction was temporary, a dangerous feeling. To rest upon one's laurels was stagnation; every day must be spent seeking the best, chasing one's dreams and the feelings of one's heart. Stagnation was no better than death while alive; it was to be avoided. Motion alone was life; laws, order and all other fetters would weigh you down in the long run.

Skadi's order had developed from experience in the harsh world of Taminal, where those who stagnated and got too comfortable ended up dead to those more ambitious and quick on their feet, proving their philosophy in practice. Of course, much of this was entrenched in nautical folklore and the varying beliefs of those who passed through Taminal, and many of Skadi's order, including Skadi herself, were exasperated in having to explain the specifics to those who believed they were mere Leviathan worshippers, but they worked tirelessly to spread the Law of Motion and the freedom of Taminal, in their eyes, was their philosophy working.

Skadi took these teachings to heart. The life of a land-dweller was never for her, at least not one who stayed in one place, never moving, never improving. Eventually, she realised that staying in Taminal was stagnation for herself; she had to keep moving. Taking a ship out of Taminal one day after bidding her order farewell, Skadi sought adventure and motion, to spread the teachings of her order to others who she felt in need of rousing from their inertia. As Skadi ventured into the world, however, she saw far too many examples of stagnation; kings and governors content to sit upon ideals of nations that had remained firm as to stifle others, corrupt and rich fools who had sacrificed ambition for comfort, and the fearful masses that stayed in routine, doing the same thing over and over again, fearful of moving forward. Skadi saw a world in need of the teachings of her order, and brought it around during her travels, becoming known in some rumours as a priestess of Leviathan by those who did not fully understand her beliefs. She pressed on, for the world needed to understand the glory of motion and thus freedom, leaving a trail of believers, skeptical companions, lovers and enemies.

In her travels, Skadi put many through her trials, of varying levels of harshness and testing many different levels of will. Some needed nothing but kind words to keep moving, and unto them, Skadi gave wise words; their ears were open, and so they were ready and willing to hear what she had to offer. Some needed a harsher touch, and so Skadi pushed them onwards, dragging fearful adventurers into dungeons to make them face a true challenge; they could either sink or swim, and Skadi was hoping for them to swim. She was willing to help those who needed her help to move enter motion; however, Leviathan was not a kind god, her philosophy not one for coddling and Skadi was a tough, harsh teacher to those who needed a harsher touch.

It was those who refused the wisdom of motion that Skadi loathed; those content to sit upon their laurels, the rich and corrupt who sat upon their high thrones and made others drag them forward -one of the truest perversions of the Law of Motion, for it was movement at the expense of others because one had no will to move themselves. It is them upon whom Skadi visited her harshest treatment, placing them within a trial of fire against her; a traditional response in Taminal when unruly pirates who had acquired the services of her order became too stagnant to warrant their continued assistance without change. Those who endured would be left with Skadi's respect and a new appreciation for motion; those who fled Skadi would face judgment from her fists, for broken bones and missing teeth were the best teachers to those too stubborn to change. Her wanderings and spreading of the message would lead her to Cadin, where she would find herself in need of somewhere to rest before she would move on to her next journey; even those in search of eternal movement must catch their breath, at least for a time.

As I pointed out in ctsun's sheet review, for FFEF, every 1 point of growth you put into Stamina is doubled. So if you have 45 points of growth, if you put them into Dexterity, it counts as 45% Dexterity Progression, but if you put it into Stamina, it counts as 90% Stamina Progression. Jaye's current growths do not fit the 335 growth point limit, nor do they make sense as either doubled progression (since 65 is not even), or non-doubled growth (since Stamina's cap is 50 growth for 100% progression).

I accept all of this as my fault, for leaving the doubled stamina rule in a small corner of the rulebook instead of spelling it out as a distinct difference between FFEF and FEF.

Bio: Long ago, the Dyster family was one of the few powerful houses in Corothis, a secluded nobility with enough power to deter all others from fighting them, thanks to their skills with blades and proficiency with magic.

But when Coris began their conquest across the continent and directly threatened the family’s safety, the Dysters did not fight. Foreseeing their destruction by the rising Empire, the head of the family chose survival, using their wealth and power to flee the continent and go into hiding, all to avoid the iron grip of the Empire. At least, that’s what the records state.

In actuality, the Dysters never vanished, instead merely bending their knee in support of Coris instead of struggling against the change. Though secluded, the Dysters always desired more power, and they saw the Empire as a chance to gain that power. So they supported their conquest, discarding their old name and initial holdings and banding under the new family of Polyion, their history kept a close secret by those trusted in their numbers.

Due to their history and skills, the Polyions were able to quickly adapt with the new society that came with the Coris Empire, comfortably establishing themselves within the higher standings of the Empire. Though undeniably influential, the Polyion family continued to desire more power, but with their bloodline’s magical prowess stagnating, they were forced to play with the Empire’s method of progression, slowly building back their reputation through accomplishments and talent.

At least, until Lady Evelyn Von Anextra Polyion vanished from the world for a full month, returning with a albino child with more potential with magic than any in their line. Though clearly a suspicious act, Evelyn had heard rumors of the Evrih Sea and its effect on children born there. Figuring it would truly put her family on the political map, enough to put them at the side of the Emperor, Evelyn had made preperations to travel to the Sea in secret and give birth to a child who would make her desires a reality.

That child, obviously, was none other than Reeve.

Throughout her life of growing up, Reeve quickly adapted to the world and to the expectations placed upon her, becoming rather adept with magic and showcasing a remarkable amount of natural talent and intelligence. However, at the same time, it became apparent that the prodigy had a different way of acting compared to her family. Where most Polyions were known for their quietness and subdued nature, perfectly content to stick to their own expanding bubble unless danger reared to face them, Reeve was anything but. Loud and proud, Reeve developed a massive ego, choosing to showcase her worth to the world and more. Additionally, the young mage became enamoured by the world, developing an addiction for travel in order to continue seeing the various wonders each kingdom and continent had to offer.

These travels, aside from fueling her wonderlust, had a side effect of exposing her to the darker sides of society. Injustice, oppression, despair, all the cruel acts against the common folk serving to sour her opinion on some of her peers as well as building up a sense of justice in her.

Of course, her family made sure to try and keep Reeve from wasting too much time, using their influence to enroll their magic prodigy at both Excidium and Instaurum in order to further her talents, which had so far been composed of her own self teaching. Needless to say, she managed to graduate from both, even if her personality was unbecoming of her status, and for her focus on destructive magic.

Now though, with some time to herself from both Instaurum and Excidium, Reeve has been directed towards Praesidium, aiming to graduate from three of the major academies of Corothis in order to secure a suitable spot in the military for someone of her standing.
