Crawl Roll Call

So, who plays this fantastic example of a game?

I do, obviously.

Also, I just realized that player ghosts are badass motherfuckers.

Who doesn't think malevolent gazes are awesome?!

I play the souped up graphical version.

I did play the souped up graphical version, but then got bored of its simplicity and how I kept getting owned by various specific enemies. Damn you Sigmund...

I love the idea of previously dead players comming back to life as ghosts from the very first time I saw it.

Why don't more games do it? so far I've only seen it in the rogue-likes...

I play this awesome yet horrible game.

...in telnet  ;D

Although I haven't found lately the time, effort and skill required to not become utterly frustrated by getting slaughtered 5 times in a blink of an eye and then dying with the sixth promising character of stupidity.

Also I died after getting so far with my Demonspawn Chaos Knight and slumped to a playing hiatus that is probably very familiar to roguelike players.

P.S. This was so stupid I can't believe I did it, can you guess what I thought I was doing?

I just downloaded Incursion, and I have to say, it's easily one of the worst games I've ever played. Maybe it's that it doesn't display properly for me, or that I have a small screen and the game window doesn't even completely fit on it, or that if I want to play I have to spend 15 minutes making a character, but whatever it is, I hate it.

It looked good on the website, but really, I don't want to waste my time picking skills for a character.
Ever.

Well yeah, Incursion is much more complex compared to Stone Soup. One of the reasons why I like it.  :)

Fair enough. I'm from that "a character takes 6 seconds to make" school of rogueliking.

Where do you get the graphical version?
My friend's refuse to play ASCII games, I want to ease them in slowly.

Has anyone ever tried worshiping a Crawl god in real life?

I got lost in a mall once, and there were these two rows of multicolored pillars with a beige-white raised floor-mini table thing at the end, so I kneeled on it and was accepted by Kikubaaqudgha. He didn't help me get out of the mall, though.

Eventually I tried to kill a fat lady and the mall cops escorted me out. I didn't even get the Orb.  :(

I tried a version of this on my DS (yay homebrew)
It was cool, but the only really recent version of it also didn't support my flashcard, and the one that did made you turn the DS off every time you died, which would be really annoying...
Guess I gotta download a real PC version..

Play as an orc priest and worship Beogh. Eventually, you'll become a messianic figure. Orcs will convert to you on sight, you'll be able to walk on water, and smite unbelievers.
