Don't think this was right to put in Life Advice and I don't want to just post it in a mega thread to be ignored.

I need some help with one symbol in this image:

The rest I already know are Hiragana characters that go,

U, Ma, Ku, __, E, Nu.

From top to bottom.

The question is, what in the hell is that thing in the middle?  I'm trying to understand it and going nowhere.  It doesn't look like any Kanji, doesn't look like any Kana.  I guess the top part could be a small To(hiragana) but that's it.

Anybody have some help?

Kanji.  It's the verb "iu," "to say."

So the sentence means " can't say it well."

If there's a kanji you don't know, use this.
It even gives stroke order.

Also, so if I'm reading right that image I have up there says.

"Couldn't say it well."

Or something similar?  Oh wait Vector already spoiled the answer.  :I
