Nearly a month of playing this game
« on: April 15, 2011, 05:07:52 am »

And, JUST now, I realized exactly how alerts work with my military. I always wondered why I'd see things like Urist McConfusedDude is now a Swordsdwarf, Urist McConfusedDude is now a Woodworker.

Anyways, this all explains how 9 out of 9 of my artifacts were made by my military, and why my military has always been poorly trained.

It still, however, does not explain away the marksdwarf stupidity.

Marksdwarf can't see past their crossbows

Or perhaps you're just sadistic and enjoy slow-cooking your goblins/kittens/nobles.

Your not the only one that takes several dozen forts to figure the game out.

Marksdwarves are still bugged. It used to be they'd use any bolts marked for combat only for training, but now they won't. That doesn't stop them picking up the bolts in the first place, so they'll just wander around with the combat bolts in their quivers insisting that they can't follow their orders.

"HURR, BUT I CAN'T USE THE WOODEN BOLTS! THEY WON'T FIT! MY QUIVER ALREADY HAS IRON ONES IN IT!"

"Did you try taking the iron ones out first?"

"WELL I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT, BUT THEN I THOUGHT..."

Forbidding the iron ones doesn't work?

"Guess what! Word just came down from The Administrator, your bolts are now restricted property!"
"Alright, alright..."

*LATER*

"Why aren't you training?"
"My quiver is already full of iron bolts!"
"You were supposed to throw them away!"
"These are different ones!"

That's why you go into the stocks menu, and forbid iron bolts THERE.

What is this, a therapy session? We don't need to console someone because they're upset about a fucking video game. Grow a beard, son, and take off those elf ears!

I have created two new, entirely sadistic rules after having to deal with military annoyances.

1.  If anyone in my military is angry, and I check their mood only to see that they're pissed at being relieved from duty and having a long patrol at the same time. They die. Painfully.
2.  If they have a wardrobe malfunction, they die. Painfully.
