Erm... how do I get back from "Test World"? :(
What, aren't there any monsters to kill you?

Return spell? Scroll of Return?

I don't recall exactly, but shouldn't there be a camp or something that lets you travel back?

Alternatively, you can always starve to death.

Didn't really want to die and lose stuff. I did manage to find the NPC who returns you, though. I was thrown off by the town being empty/undecorated, and didn't initially realise all the NPCs were clustered together in the snow far to the north of all the buildings.

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

So, does anyone know a quick way to get money? (besides the "Before It's Too Late" quests)

If you're not afraid to expend a lot of (in-game) days (though it takes very little of your actual time), get trading.

Otherwise, queue up a bunch of delivery and escort quests and get through them (be sure to make sure you have enough time first, though!).

Oh, and the puppy dungeon gives a lot of books if you have some patience.

That's all I could think of off the top of my head.

Unknown to most but the insane and the mystics, Tarran is actually Earth itself, as Earth is sentient like that planet in Avatar. Originally Earth used names such as Terra on the internet, but to protect it's identity it changed letters, now becoming the Tarran you know today.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Discovery of the Day: Two tamed bells with artifact bows (One with Lomias' fixedart) make a good companion for a caster (Or any character.)

Indeed, The bells are overpowered, especially with fully kitted rubynus gear. You could give them grenades if your pets are all bells, so they can aoe the monsters. Note that they are resistant to sound attacks.

If you are willing to farm for bow artifacts, getting Lomias' weapon and repeatedly killing him in party time quests should net you good equips for your bells. The copy of his bow will transform into an artifact, and since Lomias is guaranteed to spawn with artifact arrows, this means you'll have no problem arming your bells provided you can kill him with relative ease.

The bells also last a very long time in the arena, especially if you have 2 or more of them in team battles.

If you ever get Lulwy's artifact unique bow, GIVE IT TO YOUR BELLS! The bow will do you more harm than benefits, and pets nullify negative ether weapon effects (they don't get the disease).

Is there a way to get into a dungeon and not get mercilessly gibbed by the first monsters that come across my path?

Because that's all I ever do.

Dying.

Also remind me to never pick Elea again.

I think I'd rather just nuke stuff with Meteor.

Depending on which race/class you started as, dungeon diving is probably out of your league. Every skill choice you make at the beginning is vital to your survival. Every point, every platinum coin, every bit of equipment can mean life or death.

If you're open to a bit of metagaming, drop everything of value at home, head to a high level dungeon, and pray for a good weapon. Otherwise, you'll probably be grinding for a fair bit.

Good skills to start with are magic device, sense quality (best skill ever), evasion, greater evasion, weight lifting, depending on whether you're ranged or melee, tactics or marksmanship. And obviously, some weapon and armor skills.

Other nice skills are mining (con boosts + minor loot), jeweler (scrolls of inferior material for getting rid of cursed items), cooking (for more stat boosts). Try to get anatomy too, since it increases the chance of getting corpses (and thus, early resistances and stats).

Alchemy and carpentry are nice to have, but the relatively small chance of amassing specific materials makes them less useful than other skills.

Ranged > Melee, find yourself an UNCURSED ranged weapon asap, anything is better than nothing; so long as it's uncursed.
Also, grab some snow. It's useful for locating pumpkins and greatly increasing your fire resistance.

My main is an Elean, and you don't see "Scissor Happy Blaze was killed by (blah)" do you?
If you're starting out as a complete newbie, I strongly suggest picking golem as your race. Unless you're open to using debug races as well.

It's less the dying as an Elea (that happens either way), it's just that random motherfucking teleportation is the worst motherfucking ability ever.

That's either an etherwind disease teleportitis effect or an item effect, not a racial ability.

ANY cursed item can also give that effect, and it doesn't show up on the item's info screen either.

You forgot Gardening, one of THE best skills in the game (albeit only so to grind Learning).
After you get it, just grind The Harvest Time quests in Yowyn. You don't need to succeed, just pulling the crops increases Strength, Constitution and Will (and Learning with Gardening)
And Learning is the most important skill for leveling, as you don't get skill points retroactively as you do HP and MP with Con and Will.

Go to Yowyn, get sense quality.

I cannot stress the utter importance of this skill enough. It slowly identifies items, increases perception very quickly, and is trained by holding unidentified items. Increased perception means you deal more ranged damage, dodge more often, and land more critical hits.
