Actually, there are potions of resistance and the attribution shield spell. It might not help much against the magic element though, but that's kind of the magic element's thing: being hard to resist.

Other than stacking resistances, there's not really much you can do. I think the most important thing to do is kill them before they can shoot you. Getting Shadow Step and/or Shining Wave will help with that a lot.

A good part of this game is just grinding till you get the items you want to overpower your stats and resistances by eating the right things, which are usualy craftable. This is why I almost always start with a farmer character, get tons of blessed herbs and + resistance things, and nice unrandarts, then make a gene and start a new character as a claymore or something.

Say, I've always only focused on stat, skill and spell grinding, main as a wizard but dabbling in most skills. Didn't really get around to searching for good items except for static items and artifacts. When one is actually looking for good resist items and the like, how should one go about it?
Currently lvl 37 but my stuff are mostly random crap I've picked up along the way.

This advice is for the latest version of elona+:

Get some crafting skills and get to crafting yourself some random artifacts. Might take some scumming, but its easier than wading through dungeons until you find something interesting. Another decent way to get nice stuff is through artifact seeds, that bosses will drop. If you have high gardening skill, you can plant them and get multiple artifacts of the same plant, and regen the plant when it dies using kuromimi's stone.

They take a long time to bear fruit though.

Probably the easiest (and perhaps the best) way to get nice equipment is by investing on shopkeepers. Takes a LOT of money, but money isn't terribly hard to earn if you're, like, a pianist of sorts or someone with high negotiation, investing and travelling skill.
Having really high fishing and cooking, and cooking the high level fish then selling them to shopkeepers can net you tons of money really fast, which you can then invest on the shopkeepers to get better items.

NEVER throw away items that give +### to crafting skills. You don't need super high skill to craft random artifacts, all you need is enough skills to craft them, and having items that boost the required skills save you the time of actualy grinding the skills up.

Luck gives a higher chance of getting better-quality gear. The "Lucky" feat gives a 10% increase to base Luck, so it's not all that bad. Obviously, hit the casino if you're getting the "Lucky Day" buff.

I'll edit this post with a bit more info when I get home, but the little sister quest shop sometimes has really nice artifacts, especially if you reload a ton of times. I got some sweet artifact seven league boots there; I'll look for a screenshot later.

Decided to get back into Elona+ after 2 years away. I am completely lost again :D
I wonder how viable unarmed combat is. I know it gets to have pretty godly damage really late game, but does it even work early/mid-game? Will the lack of bonuses you usually find on weapons/shields cripple you?

Anyone know where the various god altars are found so I can quickly convert to one of them? I might have just been too blind or caffeine-deprived, but i couldn't find the info on the wiki.

I've also noticed that armor you wear shows up on your sprite. Is there a way to hide a piece of armor or not have them affect your sprite?

Edit: My google-fu has revealed that you can hide armor pieces by using dressers. I have another question though, Does equipping two claws for martial arts count as dual-wielding?

Okay...

So I downloaded the latest version of Elona+, and after getting sleepy, proceeded to Squeeze my Yerles Combat Plane.

During sleep, I got a choice box with a few options, such as "Ignore", "Kick out of Bed", "Gently Hug", "Gently Stroke", "(Various things)", among others.

Choosing an option made some kind of message with "You (%) - Opponent (%). Choosing options raised the percentages, eventually resulting in me winning(?), "Yerles Combat Plane reached the limit!".

After waking up, there was a "Blood of Yerles Combat Plane" on the bed.

The bottle is white.

Seems that you can now have your pets ride YOU. This got me thinking since healing spells used by a rider heals the mount too.

1. Get a Golden Knight from Opathos of Earth
2. Make her ride you
3. ? ? ? ?
4. Profit!!!

Edit: Is there some sort of odd cap on speed? my character sheet reads 149(120) speed, but the hud at the bottom of the screen shows spd 104/104. I have no idea what is taking me from 149 to 104 as I have no visible debuffs. Equipping/unequipping my shoes makes the speed on my sheet change between 149 and 145, but the spd on the UI remains 104.

What decides how good an item will be in these cases? I assume that artifact seeds depends on gardening skill level but what decides that for crafted items, random luck?
At what level does the bosses start dropping artifact seeds tho?
I think i have a fair bit of money for my level and i've already been investing a bit here and there. I guess a blacksmith and the blackmarket shop are best to start with?
