Greetings!

Hi!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is my first post, but I was having so much FUN playing as a beginner, losing since last week,
I felt the need to go ahead and join the forum and post about the fun I had.

That's the main part of the fortress right there. There's a statue garden and dining hall on the left,
bedrooms and offices in the middle, and finally a very shoddy hospital on the right.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

On the surface level it looks like a wooden fort, with dwarven military patrolling and training on the roof.

Lately, things have not been going well for the military... There's only one surviving military dwarf left,
and his right hand, which used to hold a copper hammer, was crushed... Along with many miners and
panicking haulers, when the forgotten beast came and went on a rampage with its mandibles and deadly spit.
Lucky for me it was made of coal, so my surviving military commander hammerdwarf Stukos managed to kill it,
when after losing his hand, and passing out a couple of times, rose to the challenge and latched on firmly to its head
with his fronth teeth and killed it. It was an epic battle, and I must say, I am completely addicted to DF now!

That is all, sorry for disturbing your mega projects and !!SCIENCE!! stuff.

There's always room for new players. We were all like you once.

That's quite a snazzy fort for a beginner.  Nice.

Consider widening the moat to three tiles, or just removing the ramps (so it cannot be easily crossed) and having your fisher dwarves fish inside the relatively safe area between walls and river.

Welcome to the madness! Always glad to see a new face. Also, for one of your first forts, this looks good. My first forts were terrible.

Five sieging Werebeasts, four Giant Dingoes, three sneaky Thieves, two drunken Black bears, and a Titan killing spree!

I remember in my first fort I had a door for a front door. A door. The only reason I didn't die in the first ambush is because a brave hunter gave his life and shot the squad leader in the throat, after which the squad gave up and left. I died in the first siege when they brought trolls and bashed down the door.

Blimey, you had a door.
