Imp, what has Vermilion done that makes you sure he's pro-town?

NQT, you've hosted when I marked Verm as not-pro-town in his 4th post of the game.

Verm has used language in posts he's made in play, is why I am sure he is pro-town.

I have a history of several games with Verm now.  In my first game with him (BYOAlignment), by his third post I thought him extremely likely to be town, asked for his help and involved him in my plans.  Worked perfectly; since I was an alignment cop with an already red-inspect and going from N2 into N3 with no chance to discuss, I investigated Verm N3; we went into D3 followed by D4 and he continued to be awesome.  I've never seen him do well or strongly when alone as town, and I can't stand how he uses language when he's not town, in the one interaction we've had where he wasn't town and I was.  I'm not calling him an excellent player (he's fine) or 'clearly doing town things' (he's doing reasonable things and I bet he's doing the absolute best he can see to do)

Your hosting of CYOS2, he was maf for the first time in play with me, I was town.  By his 4th post I was very sure he wasn't pro-town and I led the elim on him D1.  No flips, we had ghosts; by the time we had flips he was maf and had already made sure I died too (a miracle of randomness ressed me as I died).

He's seen me maf in MVM4; I believe him that he can't tell the difference or isn't sure.  He didn't trust me in Mater's BYOBoardgame where we were both town.  He doesn't trust me here.  We need a LOT more games together before he maybe trusts me again; maybe he doesn't.

He's become for me the game partner I wanted Jack to be for me since early in FBYOR6, 'key in lock' but that was mod-made and hey, that's not Jack.  I thought Toony was that person for me once he took over my handling and survival in FBYOR6 - nope, Toons can't actually stand interacting with me particularly on more intense levels.  I try not to be disturbing, I do want him and everyone to keep playing.

During Max's hosting of Supernormal, I thought maybe I could game partner with Max like that; then I flipped out about how he applied Bastard to the end of that bastard game and went to war on him as a thinker (I now have some understanding of bastard games and why they are fun and the people who lead them are fun and to be protected, not declared war on; I also met a 'bastard mod' elsewhere that I got to compare to Max - no comparison.  War has better targets, Max was nice and gentle compared to what I later experienced).  Later maybe we started exploring game partners to some degree, but this is Max, always gonna be random and now gone.  And random and me are an extremely bad mix, Max was just knowingly kind or something the last several games where maybe we could partner when compatible alignment (or he was open to that, like MVM4 where he offered me a truce at end game, when I was maf).

But now there's Verm.  Granted, I foxed him in MVM4 and he may never trust me again; like Toons he might be 'Imp, just get out of my head and leave me alone' - which he started discussing in BYOBoard game and we were both town there.

What I see when he is pro-town (or in BYOAlignment, can win with others, not anti-other-players) and when he is anti-town.  I can tell the difference rapidly by how he posts.  It's like he writes in color and I can see the color, it matches his wincon intention and once I picked up on that, it hasn't been even slightly wrong yet.  He is very convincingly pro-town here.  So convincing I don't think he's trying to fake it, if he even has any idea what I see to try and change.

About you and how you play when mafia - I have never been in a game where you're anti-town.  And seeing how you've played as town recently, I don't have any idea how you might play as anti-town.  I'm calibrating on you.  Would you avoid killing if you think it would implicate you?  The old NQT I would expect to play at any level of genius.  Your current thinking range, and your actual anti-town range I don't know.

I've placed more notable posts in bold.

Spoiler: Day 1 Analysis (click to show/hide)

Day 1 thoughts, mainly just thinking about D1 since I reread it all:

Most to least town:

Sal - was town on D1 anyway, should be town still unless FoU is a bastard, never mafia 0%

Verm - I feel really good about Verm reading the day again, they feel solo and especially the stuff with the Theater Chat and their devil contract, there's also that remark that they have some kind of kill protection which might explain the lack of mafiakill, probably not mafia

Jim - didn't feel like mafia to me, their interactions with Crystal and Imp specifically felt natural, probably not mafia

Magma - unless they're on a completely different level they're not mafia here, probably not mafia

Imp - their interactions with Agentt and Crystal looked pretty natural, Jim could be right that Imp is fishy though, and they don't have as many "good moments" as the players above them in my list, could be mafia

NQT - really weird and unnatural interactions from Agentt and Crystal with NQT, also NQT planted votes on Sal which was bad and then went and planted votes on Toastercult and Verm and that's about it, in my opinion really poor D1 play, could be mafia

To reiterate my question:

@Verm: You mentioned on D1 something about kill protection, would you be aware of such a thing happening if you survived a kill?

Well I'm mentally exhausted now.

I don't know why scum isn't killing. I think it's most likely that mafia are inside Imp/NQT though.

I'll do a reread of D2 next, but I need a fresh perspective and recharge on my brain it should be tomorrow after I get home from work. I don't know if it'll really matter but I can at least say that I tried.

Ah, it's about time for me to make a post.

My role never had kill immunity or revivals at any point, I lied. The original Car Accident made it too tempting, and I have a history from BYOM to uphold.
It's probably Magma or Imp? I'll be cleaning up some of the other possibilities shortly, so don't worry about that. My time's almost up, and I have a meeting to get to.
Godspeed, Imp. Good luck you all.

Sorry, NQT. I can't default on The Devil's debts.

VermillionSkies reaches inside his heart, and pulls out a fourth red marker. This would be a hugely impressive act, except for the fact that the heart is a vitally impressive organ.

VermillionSkies chuckles, coughs up blood, and finally stops running, erupting into a shower of bloody thorns. A single rose grows from his chest.

VermillionSkies has died.

VermillionSkies was Town.

VermillionSkies was Charlie's Inferno.

FoU has some twisted role ideas. Screw second-guessing this mechanical garbage spaghetti, I'm basing everything on reads and visible daytime behaviour.

Would you like to play a game of Mafia? The subforum is always open to new players.

Death and no flip.

Looks really questionable.

I had questions before.

Verm, I am so sorry.

I wonder if that was timed, or you CHOSE to.  If you chose it, what you did for us.  Thank you either way.  I'm sorry I couldn't actually save you.

The rumbling is much closer now. Some among you look out the window to see a red sports car, a trail of fire behind its wheels. You've all seen weirder, of course, but this car in particular is aimed directly at the restaurant window you're sitting at.

Glass shatters. Most of you dive for cover. VermillionSkies turns and tries to run, but the car crushes him. The real tragedy is the loss of the remaining tuna sandwiches.

VermillionSkies has been killed. Votecount reset by kill.

Of course, despite all of that, he still manages to get back up, miraculously intact, as far as any of you can tell.

VermillionSkies has revived.

This looks fine.  This looks townie.  Told us it was coming, little vague.  Did to self, nobody claimed, I completely believe Verm did this to self.  Built into role, NAI of itself.

This looks not predicted by Verm.  NQT survived lovers demise.  Which is -incredible- given that Sal claims he created lovers and this lovers thing is not baked into the game.  So this survival of lovers thing was not baked into the game.

I do not think this is a pro-town NQT at all.

OMG.

Spoiler: Charlie's Inferno. (click to show/hide)

I am sorry, Verm.  I even tried for a new res.  The res broke; it's all God's will.  I praise God for the chances to save you and the time we had with you.

I guess VermilionSkies knew he was going to die as soon as he made one post. Interesting.

Why didn't you share your revival ability with VermilionSkies in your lover chat, notquitethere?

Wow I had a feeling Verm was going to die soon (that's part of why I townread them highly), but I didn't think it would be right after I posted.

@Imp:
I said this in the Discord already, but calm down dude. I think if you're town there's a really good chance NQT is a bad guy, especially with them surviving Verm's demise there.

I like both ToonyMan and Imp so I'm just going to throw to them if that's okay.
Sounds like a winning play.

Yeah Verm very clearly thought NQT was dying with them there.

That's why Verm pointed their finger at you and Imp as their top scum picks.

We all noticed this makes the defense "but NQT was totally willing to die to Tric's mass suicide plan" obsolete, right?

How obsolete does it become? Surely notquitethere realizes that with 9 players alive, lynching 3 and killing 2 won't win him the game if he's scum. It just makes him look more suspicious for no reason.

Really interested in hearing notquitethere's take on this.
