When constructing a vampire well, how deep should the well be?
Would 13 elevation to -4 elevation kill a vampiric grizzly bear woman?

Since your objective is to guarantee they bleed a lot and nothing more, dropping them on a spike trap from one or two z-levels above should be sufficient. The spike trap should have some weak metal spears in it like copper or something; enough to pierce clothing and tissue, but you should be disrobing your vampire first (add them to a squad with an empty uniform set to replace clothing, or provide them nothing that fits them.) and retract/extrude the spikes from a lever somewhere else if it doesn't give you "a pool of x's blood" after falling onto the spikes. And the tile at the bottom of the well with the spikes should be the only tile with water. No water on the level above so the well bucket will draw from the bloodied tile, use a pump to fill it from the side.

If you want the vampire to have an egress route, you can make a door to an exit hall on the level above. Keep it locked until you guarantee you got your blood.

Spike traps can be set to trigger via a lever-operated mechanism, yes? Set up the spikes at the bottom of the well with a lever, and once you drop the vampire in you can just pull the lever as many times as you want

But how do I prevent the vampire from crawling out? That was a problem I had last time.
