Re: Decembre in Paradisum Turn 9/Head of the Snake
« on: August 03, 2013, 08:56:18 am »

Your first cognizant thought, before all else, was that you had been created for a purpose.

They called you an 'Oid'-a machine, built to help humanity-with the ability to mimic life in all forms, but still just a machine...but, you never felt anything but alive. You developed a personality of your own, your own fear and love and hate and pride. If they had intended or not, man had made a being in his own image...

Paradisium, the last known human city in the wastes, is your home. For many years, you have defended it against the horrible things which lay beyond it's walls, helped it grow, kept it safe. This is your task, what you had been intended to do when you were created. Few of your kind question this existence...but, those who did seemed to never do so twice....and for those who cannot be persuaded with words, the truly dangerous sorts...they are quelled swiftly and with minimal force. These rouge machines were eventually to be called Harriers. Those who were assigned to hunt them, the Hounds.

Then came the RUTIACS computer virus, or just ACS. A wave of madness and violence unchecked. Those Oids who succumbed to it become violent and rebellious-and Paradisium has decided there is no choice but to put them all down once and for all-rebels and infected alike. The Harriers Alliance has claimed conspiracy, blackmail, murder-a plot to destroy or enslave machinekind. Lines were drawn-between the Harriers and the Rebels, the Government and the Hounds and the ACS forces, who only seem want to destroy everything.

You are one of those who has stayed impartial in the conflict-at least, in public-but soon you will have to choose a side.

It's December 1st, 2097 in Paradisum...

Name: It better be cool :P
Design: Humoid/Techoid/Mechoid/Eleoid/Animoid
Element(S): As above, but if you can think of a custom element, I'll add it in as long as it fits somewhere along the like of pokemon logic.
Bio: Describe your history, or maybe you're just off the assembly line?
Tools/Equipment/Weapons: Based on the limit of your design. This is your inherent gifts, not your additional equipment and external accessories
Desc: What do you look like? I mean, you're a robot. Be imaginative. Megman has some great inspiration. Make sure you add your means of locomotion, but only they have to match the element you come from.
Desired Alignment: Rebel/Neutral/Government. In the beginning, you are as of yet unswayed-this is just your leaning.

Game mechanics

Melee attacks
Nearly everyone might be forced to rely on their fists eventually, or simulacrum thereof. While they are not listed for every unit, every Oid is capable of them. All unarmed, untrained or improvisational melee attacks by Human sized Oids do 1 damage, plus the power rating of the Oid in question. Larger and stronger ones are capable of far more.

Fight Defensively
You can choose to fight defensively when attacking. If you do so, you take a -4 penalty on all attacks in a turn, to gain a +2 defense for the same round. If you trying to defend with a weapon appropriate to parrying the attack in question (such as melee vs melee, or ranged vs ranged), you gain a further +2 defense bonus.

Sneak Attack

When attacking from surprise or firing with a concealed weapon on the first shot, a SNEAK ATTACK does double damage and ignores DEF bonuses granted by armor.

Tactics
The base DC of a tactics roll is 10. Every 5 above that gives a +1 bonus, to a maximum of plus 6. You can apply the bonus to any of the following tactical plans-which require the minimum of logic and battlefield information, to fit in the situation you are planning for. You need some time to develop a tactical plan, and the bonuses may be redacted if battlefield conditions change greatly. 1/2 bonuses are rounded up. Competing tactics rolls are decided by whichever was higher-with the loser unaware until the attack his group is receiving no bonuses-likewise, an ambush tactic can be quickly thwarted with a higher roll.
Only one unit may be designated as 'commander' of a group, but others can assist with the aid action.

1/Assault Plan: Full bonus to Attack Rolls and 1/2 bonus to firepower to all units firing from well chosen position. Lasts as long as Commander remains in position and active to direct fire.
2/Defense In Depth: Full bonus to Defense and 1/2 Bonus to Armor to all units in a fortified area-lasts until the position is abandoned or heavily damaged.
3/Ambush: Full bonus to Initiative and 1/2 bonus to increase crit chance. Last three turns.

Aid Action
In combat, Oids can aid one another. If you’re in position to make an attack on an opponent that is engaging a friend, you can attempt to aid your friend. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, your friend gains either a +2 bonus on his next attack roll against that opponent, or a +2 bonus to Defense against that opponent’s next attack, as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack. This can be combined with a standard movement, or a standard attack-though you may receive a penalty for helping, in exchange for what you provide.

You can also use this standard action to help a friend in other ways, such as when he is affected by a malady, or to assist another players skill check.

Oid Viruses
Various computer viruses that effect Oids can be resisted with a successful WILL check, otherwise damage will be incurred-at which point, WILL checks are rolled every turn until the virus is deleted. Preforming no action in a turn but concentrating on curing yourself will give you a +5 to your WILL check and successes count as double in regards to amount of passed saves required to ameliorate the virus. Successful resisting or merely surviving a virus will give you a bonus to resisting that specific virus in the future. Nanoviruses are similar, except they are spread through physical means-and resisted with an ENDURANCE check.

Every Oid can also choose to perform a 'Hard Reset' maneuver in an emergency-which renders them completely incapacitated and helpless for at least 1d3 turns and has a chance to damage existing Fios and Chip programs, but will usually eradicate all viruses currently present. Extremely deadly viruses-such as RUTIACS-are special cases where all these rules may not apply.

Name: Combat Light Armour Intelligence Replicant, or Clair
Design: Humoid
Element(S): Fire
Bio: Clair has only started operation.
Tools/Equipment/Weapons: The unit's hands has retractable claws in it's hands. They can heat up to melt through metal
Desc: A human female in green light combat armour and a black vizor. The armour and vizor are removable showing long red strands that seem to be hair(fire proof), green eyes and rather confusing, a set of d-cup breasts. No, we are not sure why someone gave a combat robot breasts of that size.
Desired Alignment: Rebel

Scapheap gets in for having an acronym.

Acronyms for everyone!

@GWG: Uggggggh. Talk about minimal effort. :P
Techoids don't actually have anything inherent with them. They're malleable holograms and not physical devices, you know. They can carry equipment, but it's usually just easier to download it.

Well, I think you'll find that the answer to the second also answers the first: I didn't really understand much about this world or how the Oids work.

Name: F.orest O.id X.(something, he doesn't know) Unit-01
Design: Animoid
Element(S): Wind, Frst (Frst Oids are better suited for movement in forested areas and are ususally Animoid in design. They have an advantage against Wind (contradictions ahoy) but a disadvantage against Fire.)
Bio: F.O.X. came off the assembly line a couple days ago, as a test of the Frst element.
Tools/Equipment/Weapons: F.O.X. units have a built-in flight system, in the form of two tails that can rotate at high speeds. Can be used as an unorthodox weapon if needed. They also have extra-sensitive surveillance systems in their ears, and a small, retractable laser on their back. It's weak, though, so they're best working with other Oids.
Desc: A small Oid modeled after a fox. He's kind, loyal, and hard-working.
Desired Alignment: Nuetral. He is a test model made by a secret robotics corporation that he himself has no knowledge of. His only purpose is to test his model by transmitting all data collected to his manufacturer.
