Oh damn, you're right. I completely missed that. I fixed it now. Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure I'm running from the right directory. The Dwarf Fortress main screen will pop up when I run it, with the lettering I selected, pause for a moment, and then change to IronHand.

3
Is there a particular reason why the game shifts back to Ironhand on start up, even when I have selected another tileset or outright deleted Ironhand from the folder?

I've made some forays into the baking/cooking and the like. Recently made a pumpkin spice cheesecake bars for a Halloween party. Some friends are considering having a pot-luck a few days before Thanksgiving. I'm absolutely stumped on what to make since everyone's going to do desert on the account that we won't really have time/place to keep a dish warm. Any suggestions? Considering just brewing up some cool Hisbiscus Tea.

Also, the pumpkin spice cheesecake was really good. I can't seem to find the link I used for it and I didn't take any pictures. I think it was this: Here

"An unexpected error has occurred. Your purchase has not been completed."

Goddamn it, first time I've really had this issue with steam. I've tried everything and still can't buy anything.

Uh... what's an LA and why do people want them?
From what I understand, certain races/creatures have innate traits/features that would make them inherently better than a normal raced version of that class. This applies to templates as well. Level Adjustment exists to reflect this. It's like taking/having a level in a class without it being a class. If I played a LA+1 race like a Hobgoblin,  my first "level" would be Hobgoblin and it would take me as much EXP as a Level 1 character getting to Level 2. A Hobgoblin Fighter1 would have an ECL of 2.

Since D&D 3.PF has about as much balance a fat man riding a seesaw on a make shift raft in the middle of a hurricane, people house-rule that you get a certain amount of Level Adjustment for free based on what tier your class is in. Hopefully, you can use this to put you on par with higher tier classes or at the very least keep you relevant longer.

Templates also increase level adjustment, and templates can have lots of nice things.

Also @Gilgamesh, Are circuses a thing in your setting? Could be relevant to my characters back-story.

Hmm, no psychic warrior eh. Let's see. I was kinda in the mood for some RIP AND TEAR. I was intending to take Half-Minotaur template, but now I'm thinking about going feral for claws. With high wisdom I could be a monk, but that wouldn't make a bit of sense really. Also, I would be monk. If you would allow me to swap my wisdom with my constitution I could make a barbarian.

Or I could just drop the whole "RIP AND TEAR" idea and be a regular swordsage.
Actually forget the stat swap thing, I barbarians are tier 4 right? Meaning we get +2 LA. I never screwed around with templates before, but can they stack. Like I can get two +1 LA templates in place of one +2?

If so, could I take Half-Minotaur and feral?

I really want to give PTU a try so I'm trying to make a character, but I ran into a bit of trouble. So are edges basically like Skill Points? I use one to advance a skill rank? If I start with the super nerd background and use 3 edge points on skills would they look like this?
Edu. General: Novice
Edu. Tech:Adept(1 Edge used)
Edu. Medicine: Adept(1 edge used)
Command: Novice(1 edge used)
Charm, Intuition, and Intimidate:Pathetic

Is this right?

Also, kinda of a build question. I know next to nothing about this system, but if I wanted to make a character focused on making things that augment his Pokemon abilities (Think Mewtwo's Armor, but that's probably a very high-level example), would high Mind with a tech focused skill layout be the way to go?

Edit-After a cursory scan of the Tech PDF. I think Medicine would serve me better than Occult(Original Concept was eventual Psychic, but then I read that psychic stuff was spirit, not mind). I intend to be the party Bookworm/Abrasive Nerd/Medic. Would that be a good starting character for PTU?

Back to the drawing board, now that I've looked through some features and I'm not sure if the system supports this kinda thing. I think I might go with Mastermind.

Yes, we'll be sleeping inside the hovel. I'd imagine it would be hard to keep a small rabbit safe in a magic forest in the middle of the night.

Yell out into the area

>"HEY SO IF I LIKE FIND A DEAD ANIMAL IN THE FOREST IS IT OKAY FOR ME TO MESS WITH IT? ALSO, DO YOU GIVE BEARS SHIT FOR KILLING OTHER ANIMALS? I"M NOT TRYING TO SOUND LIKE A PRICK, BUT YOU'RE HOLDING ME TO A REAL SHITTY DOUBLE STANDARD! ALSO, MIND TELLING WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO EAT WITHOUT VOMITING BLOOD OUT OF EVERY ORIFICE IF MEATS OFF THE MENU? THANKS!"

Lets noooot tick her off, lets ask tomorrow. And politely.

-1.
At the very least we should inquire about food, since that's just as necessary for us to not die as not killing animals. And when we do ask later we should inquire about whats "off limits" since everything in the forest that can have a spirit can put a hit out on us.
Try to coddle the rabbit, ask it if its hungry or something. Barring that make sure the rabbit is safe from predators and get some sleep.

"Hey, I'm not doing this for kicks sweetie. A young mans gotta eat, and I fail to see the difference between a hunter using a bow and knife to kill and skin a rabbit and me using my magic to get me some grub that won't have me shitting out my spine. Sure, I mess around with the left overs afterword, but you wouldn't kill a guy for playing with his food a little? Rabbits at that. That says more about you than me."
