If we're talking game-related music, How about some works by Frank Klepacki, songwriter for among others the Dune and Red Alert series? (Also that first link is going in my "Artists to come back to" list)
Edit: Another good game music writer is Alex Brandon who worked (and possibly still works) for Epic, writing songs for among others Jaz Jackrabit, Tyrian, Deus Ex and Unreal Tournament.
