Good news guys. My plumbering is as succes. We now have secured
magma and
water access !
I DECLARE I AM FINISHED !To begin with. I turned off invaders and migrants (in init files, so it's only for me). Don't want things to get crazy just yet.
Goal : Pump magma to the fortress. 105z layers ? Easy !
So I need many, many, (many ?) glass components for pumps.
First, I need to get some basic sand industry going.
So I need magma, to fuel the furnaces, and sand. Don't want to rely on wood here.
To get magma, I have to dig to the magma sea. I also need to have iron minecarts.
Let's do this !- Thriggle, I dorfed you as the mayor
- I've created a safe sand zone on the surface. It's sealed properly.
- I've dupe-melted some iron and got magma in minecarts. Brought them up to fuel sand industry.
- Located the magma sea. Brought 4/7 magma up to begin glass production.
Fun facts :> Lost about half an hour of dwarven work waiting for minecarts to be forged. Turned out that
Urist McMagma decided he would be the only one worthy enough to wield the forge.
Removed this luxury from him. I'm thinking about a way to punish him once I have access to the hot liquid.
> We now have a legendary glassmaker and legendary soldiers !
> Aaaaaaand also... You know my profession is "the flood master", well... Once again :
Yeah... I did it again... But in my defense, aquifers have changed ! I swear ! I suspect pressure shenanigans, I checked and it was all fine, that hole above water was safe.
And several months later. I have 8 z layers (our main staircases) filled with water. One dwarf got stuck outside the fort and nearly died of dehydratation by the time I realized.
> Want another fun fact ?
One baby got lost by her mother during the flood and the flowing water brought him right into the dump hole. Right below the atom smasher.
I couldn't (didn't want) get him out of there. He died of thirst months later.
Let's keep on going !- Created a magma reservoir. Linked it to the pump stack.
- Created a water tank. Used it to salvage my water error from before. Now, the water is in the tank, and not in the staircases (or at least not in all of them).
- Created a dwarven reactor. Linked it to pump stack.
Some screenshots :
The safe sand gathering bunker (in blue).
Here you can see I salvaged the leak on the staircase. One dwarf died. But we now have a non-pressurised water source. And the stairs are no longer flooded.
The new manager screen is so convinient !
And there goes what I've mostly accomplished this turn.
magma underpressure. Get ready to release...
Release !
