Borderspace: A scifi RPG (Signup thread)

Okay... My last game tanked, and that was probably because it was a little too heavy on the plot...

Anyways, this is a new game in a new (Yet older. I started working on the CSE long before Empire Reborn.) setting. In this game, players take on the role of individuals
who meet in 'Resonance Station', an orbital habitat in a system in the 'frontier sectors' of the CSE, having emigrated from earth (which in this case is on the far side of the galaxy.), and have passed through customs. Anything goes this far from the capital system of Tenorias. Will you be traders? Raiders? Mercenaries? Asteroid Miners? Or will you enlist in the military and fight in the ongoing civil war of the Core Worlds? Or will you do something completely unexpected? Players must provide the following:   Name:   Gender:
Profession:
Anything that would be plausible for the setting  Age:   Skills: Any miscellanous skills your character has  Height:
Weight:
(S)trength:
default ten*
(I)ntelligence:
default ten*
(D)exterity:
default ten*
(E)ndurance:
default ten*
(C)harisma:
default ten*
Bonuses:*
*:
Players get 20 points to distribute among the physical and mental characteristics as they see fit. Each characteristic requires 1 point per level. Players can take lower than average characteristics to get extra points to spend, as long as intelligence does not fall under 4. They can also be used to purchase 'bonuses'. Here's a list of bonuses:

 • Nanotech Prosthetics: You've replaced a portion of your body with a coherent swarm of nanobots (Eye, leg, or arm {or equivalent}.). You can alter the replaced part to behave differently (For example, you could turn an arm into various tools, or morph an eye/equivalent to be sensitive to different stimuli {Infrared, UV, sound waves, etc.}). Looks like liquid mercury when actively changing, otherwise appears to be normal tissue. 5 Points for each replacement
 • Gyro-Walker: You have specialised nanotech implants which filter out 'noise' from inner ear imbalances. You are unaffected by the effects of dizziness caused by inner ear imbalances. 10 Points
 • Omniglot: You have a specialised nanotech mass implanted at the base of your skull which interfaces with your brain. It can download 'language libraries', which are sets of protocol for translating between two predefined languages. An Omniglot implant can store up to ten language libraries at a time. When using the Omniglot implant, the user can speak the language perfectly (withing the range allowed by the individual's vocal apparatus{or equivalent}). 10 Points, 15 if ability to interface with various 'speech-synthesizer' modules for languages which the user is physically incapable of speaking is included.
 • Overdrive: You have nanotech implants which allow to temporarily put a charcteristic into 'overdrive'. When activated, you may temporarily raise an attribute, with the only limit being your current score for the characteristic in question, minus one. After the effect wears off, you take temporary 'ability burn' (Equivalent to the amount you put the characteristic into 'overdrive') for five times the length of time the implant was activated. Higher levels reduce the severity of the ability burn by one point per level. If at any point your current ability burn exceeds 75% of your normal score for that characteristic, you lose one point in that characteristic. Points lost in this manner can only be restored by a lengthy medical procedure. 2 Points per implant level, multiple characteristics must be purchased seperately.
 • Netwalker: You have an implant which allows you to directly interface with the CSE's equivalent of the internet.
Each characteristic is matched against difficulties for tasks, and NPC charactertistics when in 'combat' (In this case it refers to any event where two or more characters face off, whether it's a battle of brains, brawn, or even just seeing who can stay awake the longest without stimulants)

A little summary of the Confederation of Sapient Entities (CSE):

The CSE is an advanced interstellar civilization, spanning millions of solar systems, with most of the 'Core Systems' having wormhole links. The Torikan, one of the founding races, were originally a sterile servant race created by a god-tech civilization in the Omega Centauri Globular Cluster. Having rebelled with the help of a rogue member of said civilization, they escaped and wandered the galaxy in vast worldships equipped with alcubierre drives for several centuries before coming across Earth, where they engineered new bodies for themselves using genetic material from the local fauna (namely humans and various species of omnivorous and carnivorous mammals). After this, they resumed wandering until they came across a suitable system for settlement on the far side of the galaxy. Along with a small number of alien races they had encountered or uplifted from lower lifeforms on various worlds, they founded the CSE, with their capital system being a Main sequence G-class star with vast debris belts (which were reconfigured into orbital habitats.), which they named Harmony. The CSE prospered for several centuries, but eventually a schism formed. On one side was 'The Empire', and an expansionist group which had the 'Territory-goes-to-the-strongest' mindset; The other was 'The Confederation', who were dedicated to upholding the rules of peaceful contact and biological and cultural uplifting of lesser species that the CSE was founded on. Civil war broke out, and the Harmony system was destroyed in the Battle of Harmony when empire forces launced a 'Star-Reaper', an un-crewed vessel equipped with an alcubierre drive, directly into the Harmony sun, causing it to destabilize and explode. The current year is 2500 C.E., and the civil war has been raging in the Core Systems for over four hundred years. Humans had been granted citizenship in the CSE on a case by case basis, but in 2498, disaster struck Sol, and the CSE revealed its existence to humanity, and began evacuating the system's inhabitants en masse. Since the Battle of Harmony, alcubierre drives have been highly controlled by both sides, and are only used for emergency transit.

Because the solution to not being able to control your dakka is MOAR DAKKA.

That's it. We've finally crossed over and become the nation of Da Orky Boyz.
