if you want to drown in sweetened maple syrup you might as well drown in maple-scented sugar slop

The American Megathread hereby calls for a liberating force to bring freedom to Canada so that the threads may merge, as is right and proper.

Carry on.

YOU HAVE MY AXE

But seriously, I would never invade Canada. I know that thousands of warrior-monks from the Hockey Monasteries in the mountains would skate upon us with bladed sticks while yelling 'HARD!' at an explosive device slowly sliding over the ice with two people furiously sweeping in front of it while we try to climb off our icebreaking boats and up a glacial lake slope with more degrees than the temperature.

Woo, Canada.

That said, I dislike all our major parties.   :P  I keep voting green just because I like SOME of their policies and don't trust the other three.  I can't wait till they get rid of Harper though.

Yup. Federally I'm voting whoever has the best shot at beating the Conservatives because Harper is a fascist thug (hoping for a benign govt that can't get much passed, like an NDP minority), while provincially (Ontario) I ended up voting Conservative because the other party platforms were so unrealistic in terms of ignoring our current economic state that they may as well be advocating the use of fairy dust for economic stimulus.

When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.

I don't mind NDP or Green as much, but we don't have much for decent political parties here in Canadia. At least its better then the U. S., who only have two parties that are both more right wing then ours.

PTW to watch because I'm Canadian and should get involved in politics.

I'll be voting Green next federal election.

PTW because I should probably follow politics closer living in the capitol and all.

Also, I'm not sure who I'm voting for next election honestly. The current Ontario one was hard enough. The whole Gas-plant fiasco still drives me nutty, and I don't like how Wynne has handled talking about it, but good lord was Hudak a complete nutcase.
Anyways, I'll just be glad to see Harper gone, if only to calm my wife down a bit (oh how she ranted when she saw him on tv at the Canada Day ceremonies yesterday).

I'll probably vote Green, because I live in a riding that's pretty solidly Liberal, but if you live in a place that's pretty neck-and-neck, I think you should vote Liberal/whichever party you want to win of the two, and forget the rest. Unless and until we get to a proportional system (mixed-member seems to get some traction) and some sort of ranked ballot, it's better in a practical sense to vote to keep Harper out than to vote ideologically.

Checking wikipedia, my riding has been liberal since 1988, so I really have free reign to vote. 2015 can not come fast enough really.

Aye, I think mine has been since at least 2000, perhaps longer. I'd rather waste my vote voting Green when it doesn't help them, than waste my vote voting Green when it actively hurts those closer to my views and helps those further from them.

Nothing surprises me more than the fact that Canada actually does things.
