Title: Murderwheel: Rabbits, Kittens and Sunshine[Community Fortress]
Post by: exodius1 on October 24, 2013, 02:57:21 am
Greetings!

So You want to hear a story? One about Dwarves and how they labored to create secure refuge for a rather unpopular King? Than you are in the right place!

My goal is to create a secure, defend-able and, most importantly, rich fortress worthy of becoming new mountain homes! I have few Regulations I have set up to differentiate it from any other fortress I have build:

Spoiler: Regulations (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Jobs (click to show/hide)
It may/may not add up to hundred. It is flexible and subject to change, if situation needs it so if you want a clothier and there is one already I may make an exception and add another. Just not very often^^

Those who are part of the story, in no particular order:

Spoiler: Exodius the First (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Peregar (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: CubeJackal (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Sumyunguy (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Solymr (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Red (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Flame (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Bsnott (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Bsnott v2 (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Zurko (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: HissinhWallnuts (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: FireCrazy (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Urist-Soon-to-Be-Dead (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Litheme (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Gar (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Tasrak (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: VEntus, The Stabbydude (click to show/hide)

If you want to see someones personality just ask^^

Oh and most important rule: Feel Free to make RP Journals or other type of entries, I accept both prose and rhyme^^ Drawings and other art are also most welcome^^

All in all I give you Murderwheel!

Iffy memory, poor empathy, very bad analytical abilities, poor focus, very bad intuition, but good for social relations. That's the leader we all need here! Just never ask him to sing.

If we find any alder here, please store its logs into special stockpile. I'll use then to furnish my room.

I did not find any alder yet, we are still in the early stages so no customized rooms at this point, wait a year or two^^ After that I'll do my best to accommodate any wishes^^

EDIT: Feel free to make a little journal or something so i get the feeling for your personality. Will be easier to write about you^^

Ok, what do you consider dangerous profession? 'Cause you may have to wait a bit for the right dwarf. Claimable ones are updated in the OP every time I get a wave or dwarf someone so they are pretty accurate as to what is available ATM^^

...
Dear diary. I was chosen to work on secret project somewhere in the wilds. Project, devoted to national security, can't say more due to non-disclosure agreement that I signed. And today we arrived. Snow, mountains and a volcano that's all we get. A lot of work to do!
I'm here to provide this outpost with woodenware, although I'm not high-skilled carpenter. I have to master my skills here and develop my own style, before ___ ________. But for now I'm just cutting trees to get the material for myself.
...
Dear diary. We got new recruit party here. A family - husband, wife and three children. What's the purpose of bringing children here?! Maybe there's something we don't know about ____'s preferences?
...
Dear diary, we got a supply caravan here. And a new group of recruits just before it. Funny, caravan's leader said he's here just for TRADE, but surely that's just a cover. Not a good one, must say - who ever would want ot travel here through all the dangers to trade with poor just created outpost?!
Also, a guy who come as Mountainhome Liaison took all the records we made here, so bye-bye dear diary, I'll have to find another piece of paper to write on.

In fact every time I make a filler I'll tag it above the spoiler with Filler^^ And if anyone thinks it is far-fetched from what can actually happen in-game I shall direct you towards Cacame Awemedinade.^^

Dear Diary. Elves came here to trade, and knowing that they are highly qualified in woodwoking I brought them some of my creations. I just wanted to ask them to give me advises of futher development of my skill, but they looked very offended and refused to trade. Still, we took everything we needed. I'll learn their style by studying the items they bought then!

Yeah, sorry about that guys. Also as I have no idea who actually survived and managed to flee first 6 people to ask will get a brand new dwarf in reclaiming party. Warning: You may get a girl. It is not a problem if your old one comes back, than you have two of them. Oh and Everyone who was dwarfed up to this point is allowed to either wait for their comeback, or claim a new one. I will also try to get that alapaca for that guy who asked for it.

Just one rule about getting new dwarf. Ask for a different name, to make it less confusing when, or if, old one comes back. Exception are FireCrazy and Urist McDwarf as their guys are dead for sure. I'm gonna give you a day or two to decide. And Sorry for being so sloppy.

Journal of Peregar the Carp Enter (found somewhere in the forgotten halls of Murderwheel)
Dear Diary. Last migrant group was ambushed by goblins and almost wiped out, and we barricaded the gate. What Exodius does, we need a proper military here!
Also elven traders managed to get in. Exodius met them and they suddenly died by his axe. I guess he wanted to test his fighting skills before battle.
.....
Dear Diary. Human traders threw goblins away and removed the siege out. We opened the gate and let them in.
....
<runes are crooked like were scribbed in a hurry>
Dear diary, more goblins sneaked inside. I got to help others getting rid of them with my axe, will write later.

Yes, put me into reclaim party, as Gar the axedwarf (and any civilian profession that fits). Lets chop some goblins!

Yes, put me into reclaim party, as Gar the axedwarf (and any civilian profession that fits). Lets chop some goblins!

Actually I wanted to make Mlae Reclaimer Hammerdwarves and Female one Crossbowdwarves. I will do an exception for you though^^ For everyone really, unless they want to be female, 'cause I have a story planned out for that^^ If everyone says something soon we will be able to begin^^ I am hoping for a particular bug to occur, the one where hostiles become friendly until next siege. I have something planned for that as well. OH and before anyone asks, I am claiming one of the female marksdwarves, called Litheme^^

IT IS NOT THE SCOURGE OF URIST! I had made up an image of what it looks like and if a forgotten beast like that appears I will make Exodius the First fight it one on one, presuming he will be back.

EDIT: Ok I had an image for the Scourge but this one is better. So without a further delay I introduce

What was my original design? Who the hell cares! It's a three-eyed cat that spits on people now!

Abandoned due to tantrum spiral? NEVER!!!! I once managed to survive a spiral with one toddler living off the moisture on the floor of his parents room until next migrant wave arrived!!

Anyway, I'll wait for more Volunteers for a bit and start playing again this evening.

EDIT: Started the reclaim, wish me luck

Hang on, I have embarked with wrong civ, It would mean we have access to "High Boot" technology but it also means lack of our original dwarves. START OVER! This however serves as a handy proof of concept.

Diary of Gar the Axedwarf
We arrived to the place. Goblins seem friendly... for goblins. Actually, there are goblins and human merchants scattered around who looked 'friendly'. I mean, they stare into nowhere and smile dumbly.
I guess they found the wine cellar of outpost's founders and guzzled it...  I should negotiate with yak, she looks the most intelligent among all them.

Journal of Gar the Axedwarf.
Dear diary. We convinced those stoned goblins to put down their weapons and armour. By 'convinced' I mean not usual dwarfy way of 'convincing' by applying heavy weapons to their limbs, but literally convinced. We just asked them to put the weapons down, and they did. Also they threw down their armour and even clothes, giggling and singing about elven lifestyle in a harmony with nature.
Now we have halls filled with NAKED stoned hippie goblins. Please make me unsee it.

I would really appreciate feedback on how I'm writting Litheme, I do not think I am getting it just right. It's my first time writing female characters and I am not sure if I am doing a good job.

Also I will try to give two sides to each Chapter, one for Litheme and one for Exodius. Each chapter from Chapter XV, included, will be for one season only, to make sure I write regularly. I will update the dwarf list at my earliest convenience.

Journal of Griffin:

ENTRY #1
Why was I called from my duties as a royal guard to this forsaken fortress? The corridors are littered with junk, and we found the goblins drunk. I must say, that little trick about the goblins handing their armor and weaponry over worked quite well. They are now pacified and I am keeping a close eye on them, along with my duties of watching Litheme. Recently, there was a fight between a goblin and a yak. I feel sorry for the goblin, after being tossed like that. There was also a death. HissingWallnuts' baby has died from starvation. I have managed to stop Hissing before he could do anything more drastic to Litheme. I cannot stop to feel partially responsible for this death, if only I would have payed more attention to recent events.

Dear diary. I said that Yaks are our real friends, and they prove it! Yak bull just gored a goblin lasher, kicking hin in the chest and right into the heart! I call this move - Yak Heart Attack!
Other news - Everyone thinks that Litheme is in charge for EVERYTHING here, even for their stupidness. HissingWallnuts blamed her for his own baby got lost and died because mother didn't give a fuck about that. Oh those peasants.

Journal of Gar the axedwarf

Dear diary. One of this outpost's founder have returned back from wilderness. Name is Flame, the brewer and cook. Strangely, he doesn't want to be a cook anymore, but wants to be a soldier instead. Well, he's the hammerdwarf now, but I guess he'd be more deadly with his brewery - just look at those goblins who are still out of their minds! I think if their kin sieges us, we just throw the barrels out the walls and wait for them to drink them dry. Nobody except dwarves can survive that!

Other news - soon we will flood everything with magma, which is always Fun! When they start, I'll be on the highest tower with a barrel of rum and a piece of meat roast watching that.
Oh, look, Flame is chasing some elf. He'd better have an axe instead of hammer, it's more amusing and fitting.

Nice!

Results of the test were rather underwhelming though. I do not want to give that many spoilers since it is in Chapter XVIII but what I can tell you is fact that it spreads extremely slowly. At least I fried one goblin while doing it. I am also doing a back up version of the fort, just in case i misjudge something while making the device more.... efficient(nothing major, really. I'm no good with engineering)

Set pumps where the magma fills those narrow channels. Pressurized magma spreads much faster!

And puts a shitload of strain on my computer^^. plus I do not want to go Boatmurdered, I want to use it as a crowd control. Thus I had made two more channels next to the Ramps into the fort and I am working on making that the only way to get in^^. We do not want to set the world and migrants on fire accidentally, do we?

EDIT: Nevermind found it^^ the misspelling, not the pamphlets that is.

Also, do you have any names for the Contest? It will be more fun when more people participate. I have banned myself from it of course, as I can give my dwarves whatever accommodation I see fit.^^

Journal of Royal Guardsdwarf Griffin
Entry #2

The goblins have invaded! We closed the gates, not long until after I realised that Karnii was still outside. I refuse to believe that we had closed the gates, even though we knew one of our dwarves were out there. We even released the magma. We found his body on the top of the volcano, soon after, with bolts sticking out of his body. I personally saw to the burial of my friend. I cannot contain my anger anymore, I must unleash it on somebody!

Here is my list of suggestions:
FIRE DEVICE - Fun and Insane Radiation Extermination Device
CHAOS DEVICE - Crispy, Hellish And Outstanding Secret Device
EXTERMINATE DEVICE - EXceptional Tactical Efficient Royal Millitary Insane Natural Attractive Termination Effective Device
(Okay, all of these are bad, I vote for INSANE)

If not yet claimed, I'd like to apply for the position of Hammerer.  Preferably the weakest 12-year-old in the fortress; sex doesn't matter.

If that's not possible, I'll go for the most useless dorf in the fortress (at your discretion, I'm not picky); but definitely prefer a just-turned-adult dwarf, with the worst social skills possible..

The sporadic updates are actually a bonus, since I'm already involved in a few other succession forts.

ok, I did not play the game yet but I want to hear what you think of this idea. As it was foreshadowed in the previous chapter I am considering building a danger room. But not an ordinary danger room. I want to train every single civilian in Dwarf-Fu. Yeah, every single one. Imagine the !!FUN!! during ambushes or tantrum spirals! If you oppose that idea say so and you will be ignored taken into consideration.

To try and convince you however I have prepared a little text in advance. Ekhm... "We will have a good old fashioned martial arts monastery atop the mountain. Except the mountain is a volcano. And monks are all short, bearded, drunken idiots^^"

Flameboy has also added his five Urists with:
"And instead of peace, we have murder and booze."

Do tell me what you think.

This sounds like a very quick way to huge amounts of !!FUN!!, especially if we involve the aforementioned volcano in the danger room, so of course I support it fully.

One of human merchants impressed us with his skills of unarmed self-defence - he just killed a berserking dwarf with a single throw by thumb. He said he'd been taught that in a far far away Mountainhome by some mechanical training room. Very interesting.

Litheme sent a message to Exodius, and he replied with blueprints of device. Damger Room he calls it, quite fitting. Now everyone is exited about this device, someone even wants to put every citizen under training. But I afraid that will result in a lot of accidents. But the profit is great, that's right. Have to test it by myself first.

Zurko's Journal
Entry #1
My old journal was accidentally destroyed after an experiment , so I am getting an replacement. Sumyunguy has just demanded me to build a temple, as the architect of the fortress, for the god Ral. Alright, he was a priest, I can understand why he would want a temple. But.. the Order of the divine bottle? Seriously? I told him I would work on it tomorrow, just so he stops annoying me. I'm quite busy, you know! Now where was I.. ah yes, designing a weapon of mass destruction that would destroy the world.

edit: just so you know, i suck at journals

Dear diary.
Sumyunguy (that's a name, actually) have found a strange bottle that have popped out of magma. With a message from Exodius about him being cleared from all suspects. Now he insists on this bottle being a Divine Message from Ral and demands a special structure to be built. A temple or something.
The message was true, by the way. I wonder if it's possible to sent letters or even goods by this way... I need a few magma-safe tight closed pots to do the experiments.
Got to got to the stockpiles and be busy throwing them into volcano, bye, diary.

From the desk of WoobMonkey, Hammerer floor of the dining room:

Temples, bottles, magma... these dwarfs have no concept of legal proceedings.  Did anyone bother filling out form A-14832(i) 'Application for permit to build a pointlessly large monument', or form M-3(a), 'Application to use Magma as a means of communications transfer?

No, and no.

These scofflaws must be taught the consequences of anarchy.  My hammer awaits.

Zurko's Journal
Entry #2
So, Woobmonkey has written a complaint, conveniently in the dining room where everyone can see it, clearly. I actually agree with him, just on the part that it is a pointlessly large monument. However, I should research into methods using the magma as a means of communication transfer, that seems like a very good idea. We could do that instead of using the caravan every time we want to send a message. I begin work immediately.

The C.H.E.E.S.E.M.A.K.E.R can cause conflagration by use of hellfire, which will cause much exploding of enemies by shooting extra magma at killer ruffians on the external part of your fort. (Yes I know I did some word swapping but it doesn't matter too much. :P)

Ok two things

I'll close the entry to the contest on Sunday.

My computer is acting up so there is a small chance Murderwheel will die due to external sources, I will try to avoid that if possible.

Edit: Crisis averted, I have moved the fortress to another machine

Oh and there is our Flag, drawn by Random Art website (http://www.random-art.org/online/)

You know, the Rule V. is there so we are all surprised with the result. I could have as easily set it so it shows the current status of the poll all the time if I wanted it. -.- I'm not criticising but...

Anyway, Chapter XXI should be here on Friday, I have a ton of stuff to do apart from it.

How do you guys like the flag and the map anyway? Should I continue updating the map or do you prefer to leave it to your imagination?

Update will be here tomorrow, in the meanwhile I want to say that I have an... Idea... to change our fortress into literal MurderWheel. As of Chapter XXI (i hate telling people what to do btw) I would not mind if Zurko would hint into a greater project he is working on. If FireCrazy actually wants to know what it is exactly for foreshadowing sake he knows my Steam, as do all of you if you read the whole thread.

As for now I can tell you this: it will be glorious. I will try to make rough sketches so people can start guessing as well. Or at least I will try for my artistic ability ends on drawing a stickman.

As for one-dimentional comment it is not an insult to any of you but to myself. If you will give me more material however, with their hopes or dream attached perhaps, I could make them much more rounded characters.

Journal of Gar, Axedwarf and Sheriff
Dear diary.
Litheme has appointed me to sheriff. And she finally has come to my quarters that I was eager for very long. If not that bastard Flame who interrupted us! But must admit he had the reason.
Reason was a goblin siege, and in numbers that are far above our capabilities. We're locked down till we invent... something.

Dear diary.
We've negotiated with goblin leader. Actually they want to fight just because they want to fight. Maybe if we find some old brewed booze and throw outside, goblins will pacify a bit? That worked for horde that captured this place last time.
We had a hot debate on what to do. We found out one thing - debate never lead to anything. Expecially when most of debatants concentrated on their own idee-fixe.
But finally we agreed on catapulting them with a drawbridge. Test run worked fine, but I wonder how can we send flying whole siege.

Guess what! The contest is over and we have a winner!

With seven votes (I'm pretty sure some of them were cast by random people but hey) C.H.E.E.S.E.M.A.K.E.R has achieved victory!

There are quarters carved out already, we just need to know what material you want for furniture. And with recent lack of caravans it may take a while to get them, just so you know^^.

The map was updated as well, temple construction is going on schedule.

Holy carp! Why the liaison attacked Litheme? Was it berserkery becaouse of long lockdown?

Journal of Gar the Sheriff.
My Litheme has died. No. She's been killed. Murdered in her own office! By a dwarf who claimed to be the liaison from The Mountainhome!
Flame killed the bastard. I feel so pity that I wasn't there... and so rage that Flame stole revenge from me!!! ARRGH!

I have to investigate this case. I don't know if I can trust somebody...
Red has presented me an artifact bow. Yes, I should take it and master it. It surely will help me if I find out the roots of this murder!

Let Gar train with this bow, please! Arrows should be imported (and encrusted, if possible, as a sign of No-Merciful-Justice).

I would but..... I am kind of bad at taking notes. I'll try to do so for Chapter XXV onwards though. Besides, for the current chapters it makes more sense since we are in a constant siege enviroment, with migrants coming in in winter (yeah, I am still dwelling on that, this is the first fort I had that this happened in) and liaisons going mad, so it makes more sense to have a "lost track of time" thing.

Okay, so while I was talking with Exodious, he gave me a few plot details on the upcoming update. This lead to a conversation about kobolds, and how annoying it is that they get steel. This then lead to a conversation about how terrifying it would be if they could get Bluemetal, and then how defenseless they would be if they got a Candy warhammer. I did I bit of !!SCIENCE!! in response to this.
First: Two kobolds, unarmored, with a candy warhammer each and grand master skill in both fighting and warhammers. This experiment found that a Candy warhammer could, in fact, eventually be lethal.
Second: One kobold in full steel armor wielding a candy warhammer with grandmaster skill in fighting, warhammers, armor, dodging, and shields versus an unskilled, unarmed dwarf. It took a few minutes and 52 pages of combat, but eventually, the kobold killed a dwarf with a warhammer blow to the head. Interestingly, it would seem that at some point the kobold grabbed one of the dwarf's loose teeth and used it as a weapon, since she ended the battle with dabbling in misc. object using.

Sorry, I lost majority of the pictures for this update, I am an idiot-.-

You may notice that Gar is indeed using his bow, unless someone was throwing those mahogany arrows^^

As for some underdeveloped bits, like the bow stuff, wait 'til next chapter^^I acctually have some pictures for it^^

Journal of Gar the Bow Sheriff
The bow is a truly magical thing. I think my job is to put arrow on it and shoot in right direction, and everything else is up to it. Magic!

I think I have a breakthrough in my investigation. We were under kobold siege, and after we locked down a child went berserk. He didn't kill anyone, but what if there's some kind of decease or miasma that turns a sane dwarf into berserk? When the fort is open it dilutes, but when it's closed - in concentrates and bursts out on someone. Maybe that's goblins who bring it? Or kobolds? Or someone else?

On another note, the sheriff Gar is quite the character. He now uses a bow, a weapon dwarves don't use often, and he's getting quite skilled with it. I'm sure he will be a worthy one.
He was the lover of the previous Overseer, and since we haven't chosen the new one yet, I should talk to him about the recent sieges.
Now that I think of it, Gar's bow is quite unnatural... An artifact made just after his lover's murder... Could it be?
I will have to ask him to let me inspect that bow.
No! You don't dare to touch it! It's mine, my precious!
Ehm.. I mean, that's just a bow, though of exceptionaly quality. What do you expext to find there?

'cause I'm the dwarf whose job is protecting the fort, that's why! And I do have archer skill now, that's just a matter of training.

Since I don't expect you to know the answer, I'll be direct.

It was Litheme. Part of her soul is in that bow. That is her last gift to you. Make good use of it.

Journal of Gar the Captain of the Guard
I had a strange talk with Solymr, a gal who's been working with glass and mechanisms. She asked questions and finally guided me to the thought that my Rasuk Id is bound with the part of Litheme's soul. She haven't told me why she's so certain about that, she threw off with "you'll know in a due time".
But the bow is truly warm and beautiful thing.

We've issued mass-conscription of male recruits. First they need to get their equipment and when dnager room is ready we'll pass then through it.
But first I'd like to test it by myself.

Yes and Yes... I proud myself in making quite survivable forts, this is certainly a thorn in my side. I will try to use fertilizer as well.

Running, in your case, will be extremely difficult.^^

Also SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION TIME!.

I will make a little video series that should highlight how I develop the fortress! It is called "A Year in Murderwheel" and you can find it HERE! (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsbEYcWZFpohf0mTVzcVS7A) For now there is only a pilot there but I plan on recording the whole year, with my wonderful, monotoned commentary over it! And no, I cannot do anything about video quality, my current PC is extremely crappy!

If you are curious how much messed up my head is, or you just want to efficiently bore someone to death with my voice (it is my real accent btw. get used to it), do check it out! If you do not subscribe and like your dwarf will die in a suspicious accident! I may cancel the series! If you like my horrible creations I may make a full-on let's play series!

Edit: If you are worried this means there will be no chapter for that year rest assured, I will write one.

Yeah, I know... But still, it would be a shame if Red would die such a stupid death as "falling down some stairs".

I like the effectiveness of Dwarven Sedatives we have here!

Journal of Gar the Captain of Guard
Red have fallen from the stairs and broke his arm. That's too stupid to suspect someone's intervention, but Red insists that was an assasin.

The Danger Room is almost ready, and Sumyunguy wants to test it with the group of his adepts. I have to examine it before their test run.

Rasuk Id is warm and comfortable, and I didn't want to leave it alone for the night, so I got a habit to take it into my bed. And since that I do not have any nightmares anymore, I see Litheme instead! It was so sad to wake up alone...

BTW, what's about that artifact floodgate that's image is on the Gar's bow? When was it made and where it is now?

I've been watching your videos and your voice is so low I can't hear you. Other than that your english is good.
I thought a dwarf fortress player would be more ham.

EDIT: I just ha an idea to solve Gar's lack of ammo. Capture an elf in a cage and «interrogate» it for knowledge to make arrows and mod in some arrows of your own.

I cannot do anything about my voice, I tend to record at night. Just up the volume on your speakers.

As for the idea.... noble cause but any change in the "Entity" file (which would be require to allow the dwarfs to make arrows) will need a regen of the world. Good try though^^

Don't use Google Docs. It's rich text, and it'll likely screw with the system. Just upload the .txt file to DFFD. You might have to put it in a .zip first, though.

And for next two weeks I'm out for the vacations, so don't expect too many journal events from Gar. Use him at your needs.

Journal of Gar
What was that?! I have no idea. Last time I saw elves (before Flame smashed their skulls) they looked normally, well, for the elf. But now they look like some unholy magic creations! That's too much even for elves. Is that me gone mad, or is it the world?

@Peregarrett: Just be careful around Giant Sponges, we do not want our favourite nutter dead, do we now?

@Flameboy: Relax, it is a bit different. Unlike the Usurper, who was fiercely loyal to himself, Kolkeskal is completely loyal to the King. And King wants Murderwheel alive and well.

Red died from lack of water, she seemed to be healing fine apart from that, so we will have an artificial river on the roof to prevent that happening again^^

Edit: No, Chief Medical Dwarf does not belong to anyone. She doesn't even have Diagnostic skill^^ Nobody in the fortress does, tbh.

You noobis, even if you roof the tile will still be considered outside.
You need to dig a water cistern and build a well. Then reroute the water and fill the cistern. That'll hold for the winter.

I have a picture in progress involving that name.  Let's just say I am ATTEMPTING to sketch him coming onto the battlefield in a SHING of sparkles.

Of course there are also some rather undignified mental images involving magical girl transformations but I'd like to leave KB SOME dignity...

Oh well, shit happens... although this should be nominated for "the most changes in government in a community fort led by one player" award... I mean Exodius the First, Litheme, Democracy and Kolkeskal... although his fate is unknown yet...

So, what's your bet? I say three months of sullying the bed until he dies of infection, 5 beer barrels!

Edit: Militia Commander refers to Flame, Kolkeskal is only a captain in official books... Seems Flame was wondering how it feels to bite someone in the face...

@Flame: Will see... I was thinking about acctual in-game cause not the story one... Plus you use warhammers^^ Axes are very scarce atm^^

@Red: No he isn't but seeing how our healthcare system works he would fit right in^^. They are ALL relieved from everything but patient stuff but they still refuse to clean the wound-.-. Also, will you write a journal to Chapter XXVI?^^ Would love to see Sunshine's perspective...

After/If Kolkeskal dies I may consider ending this unhappy fort/give it to someone else to govern for a while/grind my teeth and just try harder.*

I am currently in the process of writting next chapter... with everything i want to include it may take up to a week or so... If Red allows I have an already written story about Kolkeskal, the Friend of Kings... Edit: @Solymr: how are your exams going? So you still have no access to Steam-based communication system? Should we install a bat in your bedroom? Will I ask anymore questions?

Exodius:  You can post the story :)  Frankly the thread is on back burner with the mod working and my job hunt and family struff and oh hey my semester is starting wednesday and I'm trying to teach myself c# and I have the Global Game Jam next weekend... I would like to see reactions to the story.  And I can explain some of the thread concept - Basically about a group who ah.  LOVE this tale.  A bit TOO much.

let's just say it involves me adding some certain war creatures to the game.

Giant Thanks to Jayeff87 who helped to make this story worth reading by helping me edit it into something coherent^^

He does not stream DF but he does some other cool stuff, show him your love^^

The fortress this happened in was originally made by Bsnott, than appropriated by me for Shakecloistered 1.5. Events themselves were witnessed when Red tried to retake the fortress. Slaves to Armok, God of Blood: Chapter 2: Dwarf Fortress was made by Bay12. I do not own any rights to their creation.

That was why Red was doing her post, it was during her try at Shakecloistered Reclaim when it happened so I wanted it to be in her thread. Fear not, I am sure that once she is having some free time i am sure we will see more about the Lore of Kolkeskal...

Also now you know why I called my newest dwarf after that turkey^^ I think I will reuse it in later forts i do^^.

I'm writing from uni right now but once i get home i cna send you the save, you may try to Reclaim that fort yourself, Kolkeskal should still be there, me thinks^^

Feel free to spread the word though, this deserves to be seen... the Turkey I mean, not my story^^

also you can add him to dwarf likes and wall-engravings, i have the file at home, i'll post it here once i get back^^

Yeah... I'm basically completely terrible for not having the thread finished.  And the only thing to blame is the fact that I am being stupidly perfectionist... well that and the muse for my viewpoint character seems to have decided that he wants to be REALLY PICKY.  Add that to a colossal case of nerves, my inability to NOT overcommit my time, and a slew of other things...

Yeah... I feel really bad about it not being done.

Shit, i forgot

I already did! What it will do is put Kolkeskal randomly on engravings and dwarven(and not only me thinks) likes. She will live forever in legends! It does require a regen though^^

Goblin ambush was on Timber, 18. And?
KB haven't had enough patience to stay under treatment and went to cut some elves out of boredom?
EDIT.
[Conspiracy theory mode ON] Elves are used as messengers for agents! Their trading caravans are just a cover!
That explains why they always come here after the previous group is killed. That's their work.
wait...
Remember Gar's vision? There are NO elves at all! Elves do not exist in this universe, they are just constructs devoted to the single goal - bring the secret message and die, of whatever reason - Flame's hammer, magma flooding, goblin ambush, or anything. Even when they leave I guess they drop dead just after they get far enough.
Oooh, now it's clear... but what to do with all this?

When you place Gar at the arbiter post, make sure he get no way to escape and no line of fire - he'll probably run away scared by goblins as civilian or run into the battle as the guard. If that's not what you want though....

Ufff... I am stuck for a little while, so no scenes with pictures and overall short chapterl.... After this chapter and next chapter are finished we will have a little jump forward in time, I played ahead but had to savescum due to a tiny miscalculation on my part (4 full squads, including 2 hammerlords, are not enough to hold off a minor [30-50] siege.... especially when they strip and run outside shouting "I MUST PICK UP THAT SOCK/SHIRT/SHIELD OVER THERE BY THOSE GREEN GUYS!")

By the way, did you intentionally avoid breaking into caverns or just had no need to open them yet?

How about both? I usually break into caverns 'cause I need magma, this time I needed water but our military was too weak to survive that so I just conjured some up^^

Few points:

1. I did not reread this, I am tired right now so please forgive me any hicups^^

2.Flame will explain what is soburd

3. The story will pick up after a time skip, i promise... I just need a short break from writing everything down, that's all

4. Flame may start a new thread based around this one.

5. Sorry for the lack of pictures in this, I really could not fit any more in without making it too long.

An explanation for what soburd is:
You know how a drunkurd is constantly drunk? A soburd is constantly sober, and is clearly a massive insult in dwarf society. Also, I only now realized that drunkurd is misspelled.

So the alternate thread I've been working on may die before it gets started. A siege has just arrived, and I've yet to even locate all of the entrances, let alone figure out how to secure them. Still, I'll try to hold out.

Gar thinks that she is, and since he never met any of them, that's ok.

It's really hard to gather all the figures in mind. Maybe I should draw an investigation chart or something... Do you have it, by the way, or you just develop the story in whatever way it goes?  :D :D
