I guess I am really lucky, if I am deeply absorbed in dorfing it up, my wife will even bring my dinner to me at the computer so I can dorf it up undisturbed.  What a lovely lady  8)

LOL my wife calls it Dork Fortress....   We all laugh over it, then I ask her if the Alliance is in control of the mumble mill.

My son calls it that...  Like he has room to talk with his obsession with ancient computer systems and games (his favorite game of all time is Adventure which he plays on some atari emulator, now THAT is dorky ;P)

My wife is a gamer.  She can't complain about my spending a lot of time with Dwarf Fortress because she's spending as much time if not more on Lord of the Rings Online and City of Heroes.  She's not interested in playing DF because she's only interested in games where she can actually interact with other human players and not in single-player games.  She is interested in the procedural content generation that goes on in DF, and she and I have had long discussions about how the kind of gameplay and world generation that goes on in DF could potentially be implemented in an online massively multiplayer persistent world.

The only times she complains about me playing DF is when I do it at the expense of something else I'm supposed to be doing.

And that people is the type of unholy union from which people like Steve jobs, Bill gates, Werner Heisenberg or Konrad Zuse came from.

Jokes aside: I envy you a bit.

No one's suggested magma as a marital solution yet?

Sadly, my condo was not built on a volcanic site.

Sure it is, you just have to dig down about 20 kilometers.

Hopefully by the time I'm married games as a media will have advanced to the point where TV is now and I'll just be seen as the equivalent as a guy who just really likes a niche show.

My wife does make fun of me for playing this game, and it's totally unfair because she plays Simcity 4 and Restaurant City (on Facebook) which are pretty similar

I'm a computer programmer so she makes fun of me for being a nerd in general.
