Sleepwalking dwarves
« on: July 19, 2014, 08:37:51 pm »

I've noticed my dwarves "sleepwalking"--moving while flashing the "Z" status--on several occasions in v0.40.02. I locked a door blocking one of them in and he stopped by the door and continued to sleep.

Recently, my mechanic triggered a weapon trap in a statue garden; while the combat and announcement logs aren't helpful, it's pretty safe to assume he was unconscious in the tile. I suspect he may have sleepwalked into the trap after a particularly grueling party. (Of course he could have just fallen asleep on the trap tile, but he has a bedroom and "hunting" is not enabled.)

I know there have been problems with sleeping NPCs in adventure mode, but has anybody else noticed buggy sleeping in fortress mode?

This is a bug. Try to find how to reproduce it and report it.

Somnambulism? It may be a bug, but it could be a new feature, as this actually happens with people.

I've also seen this, for me it was after a party my broker was at.
While the caravan was there of course.

Yep, same here... broker was flashing "Z" as he wandered back to his bed.

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?

There isn't much middle ground between killed-by-dragon and never-seen-by-dragon.
