My own bicycle is second hand and the simplest type you can get: no gears, no handbreaks (peddle breaks instead), no other fancy stuff. Not having any of those means I dont have to fix them when they inevitably break, and that the thing is way lighter, making it so much easier to cycle.
I got a similar bike for Christmas one year, when I was five or six. I never had to repair the thing, and it was adjustable, so I only outgrew it last year. The best part: It only cost $20.
