Woo, got a 3ds xl yesterday.

I named mine Tekli, since it sounded neat.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I started getting cicadas all over my town last night. Now it's almost impossible to escape their chirping. Has the cicada season started for everyone else, or is my town specifically plagued?

Yours is specifically overplagued. Mine is just average amounts of cicada, I think.

Yeah they're there for me too. it seems like a new 'season' started with the beginning of July.

In other news, I want to build the campsite, but being the indecisive person I am I'm having all sorts of doubts over where to put it, since it's permanent and all. I've mostly made up my mind about where to put it, but I'll ask for some input regardless.

Here is my town map. I've been thinking of putting the campsite inside the part where the river forms an upside-down U, just below, and to the left of, the diagonal bridge. What do you think? Any other suggestions?

I think south of that location would be best. On or near the tiny peninsula. Southernmost area west of the river is a nice location, but you probably have better things to put there. The U you're considering would be better served for more iconic centerpieces, like a fountain. Campsite should be a sort of out-of-the-way retreat, while still being in an attractive spot.

Re: Cicadas: There are four varieties during the day (brown, robust, giant, and green, in order of frequency); a walk around town (not circling back at any point) nets at least half an inventory of the things, usually more like 2/3, which is pretty profitable.

I'd save the U area for the cooler looking cafe and shove the campsite in the top left corner, when noone is at the camp it looks like a garbage dump.

You both make good points. I honestly didn't know that the café was a building you built in the town. Unfortunately, my villagers suggest very few things, and when they do, they suggest crap stuff. My first suggestion was a yield sign, courtesy of Derwin.

Klaus suggested I build a pyramid in town. Do you know how expensive those are? Not happening anytime soon. I don't think he minds.

Queenie suggested the tower to me... the most expensive project of all...

I put my campsite in a place where my river makes a sideways U, so I support campsites being placed in similar places.

I just got this (and a 3DS XL!) today, and I figured I'd try and visit some complete strangers over the internet.
Unfortunately, whenever I try to visit another town, the town will appear in the list but when I select it I get error code  '018-0512'. Any of you more computer-savvy types know what's up? There's probably firewall wrangling involved in fixing it, but I am pretty clueless about such things.

Oh, and by the way, my friend code is: '2723-9552-9765'. In case this ever starts working. I have peaches! But I picked them all so you can't have any. :-\

Is your 3ds actually connected to the internet?

Yeah. Actually, I've managed to add people as friends on the 3DS, and I can see their towns on the list of places to visit, it's just when I actually try to visit someplace that things fail completely. :( Edit: Also my grammar is fail 'cause half asleep. Apologies.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum might have a 'Welcome a Friend' promotion recommendation code?

I have a new 3DS and because of a screw up with the store, my games haven't come in for it. I can't afford any other new games, but I'd love to play Animal Crossing and heard there is a promotion at the moment. Details of the promotion are here: http://gamesites.nintendo.com.au/animal-crossing-friends/

Anyway, if someone were to be kind enough to share their recommendation code with me, that would be fantastic! You would have my eternal gratitude, my friend code, and potentially some in game items or something

I got a code from a very kind stranger!

Also, here is my friend code:
3110 - 4956 - 5021
