Author Topic: Dragon attacked -- now there is a pool of magma on surface spewing smoke  (Read 3253 times)

I was attacked by a dragon, and fire smoldered across the valley where my fort entrance is located.  But the smoke next to the entrance never stopped spewing.

Now I noticed that one of the squares says 'magma pool.'

Is this permanent?

*The square directly beneath the 'pool of magma' is just a normal floor space.

I think dragonfire is hotter than magma, so it might have melted the dirt.

But I've never heard of it happening.

It's a pool of molten rock sitting on the floor - since it's a contaminant, it probably won't turn solid (though it likely isn't actually hot), though rain will probably wash it away.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

If it isn't hot then why is it giving off so much smoke?

It's dry ice, of course!

Chuck babies at it and see if they melt. If they do, you just killed an innocent soul and probably destroyed his/her mother's life. If they don't, try again until condition A occurs.

It finally stopped smoldering after my dwarves failed repeatedly to build a wall immediately around it, but finally succeeded in building a much larger, more obtrusive wall around it from a greater distance.  I mean, it stopped the SECOND they finished doing that.  Figures.

I did capture a dragon when yet another one attacked, though.
