Self-propagating creature?
« on: November 10, 2012, 09:46:12 pm »

I was considering making a creature that

A. Regenerate fully by transforming into itself for a few seconds.

and

B. Transform bodies into copies of itself, which also have the ability to regenerate and transform other bodies.

Now, I know A is easy to do right now, but can one do B with the currant version of the game?

I'm sure you can make a syndrome that fits that description.

Also, why are you intent on creating such a fell beast?

One could say that no better intention over something than "just for the sake of it"...

To distroy dwarvenkind.

Also, Necromancers are getting boring.

Do you want something that just revives nearby corpses as clones of itself, or something that actually clones itself?

If you want the first one just make a combination raise/transform interaction and you should be fine.

If you want the second one it gets a little bit more complicated, but it's still possible. Here's the steps:
1)Make the mother creature transform into a 3 part creature for an instant. Part 1 is the main body, part 3 is a grasping part, and part 2 connects the two and is made of a material that evaporates at room temperature. Part 2 should boil away, leaving you with a the creature (having transformed back at this point) and a grasping corpse part that fell off.
2)Make the creature raise the corpse piece.
3)Make the corpse piece transform into a copy of the original creature.

You should now have two creatures, both identical.

I may use this if I ever attempt to make a "Dogscape" mod.

To this day the elven warrior castes hunt the enemies of nature for the purpouse of bringing back slain intelligent beings for consumption by their leaders and generals, for the good of nature and the survival of elvenkind.

And that is the story of how napalm was invented.

The former, but the latter sounds very tempting now that I know one can do it.

Hmm...

An attack that gives a transform syndrome into one of the creatures?

Indeed I do. Of course, the starting creature would need to be simplish, cause it's no fun If you die TOO quickly. Perhaps a blob.

B cannot be done to my knowledge (Once transformed you cannot be transformed again, no matter what), but if the creatures can reproduce then creatures that were transformed with a B-like syndrome can have offspring that can do A and also a B-like syndrome.

Oddly enough (this is gonna go places, I'm afraid) but when I was going to write my MLP fanfic (I don't give a **** about haters), but essentially...

There were ponies creatures that could spread spores around that grew into new copies of themselves at an instant.
Yay for an everspreading plague.

I've done this before actually, just give it:
Code: [Select]
[CAN_DO_INTERACTION:CONVERT]
[CDI:ADV_NAME:CONVERT]
[CDI:TARGET:A:LINE_OF_SIGHT]
[CDI:TARGET_RANGE:A:10]
[CDI:VERB:convert:converts:NA]
[CDI:TARGET_VERB:turn into a CREATURENAMEHERE:turns into a CREATURENAMEHERE]
[CDI:WAIT_PERIOD:10]
and put this in the interaction raw:
Code: [Select]
[INTERACTION:CONVERT]
[I_SOURCE:DEITY]
[IS_USAGE_HINT:MAJOR_CURSE]
[IS_HIST_STRING_1: converted ]
[IS_HIST_STRING_2: into a CREATURENAMEHERE]
[I_TARGET:A:CREATURE]
[IT_LOCATION:CONTEXT_CREATURE]
[IT_MANUAL_INPUT:creatures]
[I_EFFECT:ADD_SYNDROME]
[IE_TARGET:A]
[IE_IMMEDIATE]
[SYNDROME]
[IE_ARENA_NAME:CREATURENAMEHERE]
[SYN_CLASS:CONVERSION]
[CE_BODY_TRANSFORMATION:START:0]
[CE:CREATURE:CREATURENAMEHERE:DEFAULT]
and it can turn any living thing into copies of itsself, switch out
Code: [Select]
[IT_LOCATION:CONTEXT_CREATURE]
[IT_MANUAL_INPUT:creatures]
with
Code: [Select]
[IT_LOCATION:CONTEXT_ITEM]
[IT_MANUAL_INPUT:corpses]
and dead bodies will instead become its replicas.

replace CREATURENAMEHERE with whatever your creature is called, and DEFAULT with a cast name of your choosing (if it HAS casts, otherwise leave it on DEFAULT)

ALTERNATELY

Fluttershy wept because nobody gave a shit about her. The relentless onslaught of the Mushroom Horses was too much, and soon even their well-defended castle would fall before the plague. Her friends were dead. She was dead. Even the creatures outside would be dead if they couldn't violate the laws of physics by instantly replicating for no reason. She scratched her nose with her back hoof, deep in thought. Identical... clones... science... biology... genetics... DNA... molecules... riboflavin... monosodium glutamate... food additives... cancer... that was it! Using the conveniently placed Science Lab, she soon created a vaccine that would cause cancer. She grabbed the syringes, point-first, and ran off. The Mushroom Horses would die, or she wasn't in a bizarre gimmick fanfiction! And she was sure she was!!
