I had a slightly different idea: pose as mercenaries hired by Eor's family to retrieve the Dragonstone and hopefully track down the ones responsible for his death. I'm going to imply that whoever he left it with may have ordered the burning and death to keep the stone for himself.

Doesn't that bring about problems if he has no family aside from Prixima? I don't think we ever got too much information on Eor himself, and from the way Eor greeted us in the previous chapter, it may be public knowledge that Prixima was not cordial to him.

Come now, how many noblemen in history had illegitimate children? Especially if they couldn't have kids with their spouse(s)?

Prixima has nothing to do with this, and if it turns out Eor had no family we introduce one of the other party members (thinking Seyena) as his bastard child.

Oh well, I rather doubt we can do anything to avoid a major, awful confrontation.

Maybe. On the other hand, the possible Thieves Guild strikes me as potentially important. If this plan doesn't work, perhaps we can get them to help. Maybe. Possibly.

I dunno about turning to the thieves guild. It seems like they'd likely just swipe the stone. Worse, we'd likely have to pay them to go after it in the first place.

I just somehow know this is going to happen no matter what we do.

However, there's lots of faces in this temple, so I'm calling it now: NO ONE ATTACKS THE NON-TARGET NAMED NPCS, IF ANY. We lost Adarlan and that made the last battle a million times worse. We could use an NPC mage.
