So this infraction system in Flabort's HPBYOR...is this a new concept? I think it's a pretty neat idea.
As far as I know, it's new to Bay 12. Can't say I share your enthusiasm about the system, though. Ignoring the issues of this particular implementation (taking a photo of your role PM and posting it D1 does not need to be a winning strategy), this is basically the replacement of a working, relatively simple approach (mod discretion) with a needlessly more complicated, less flexible system, all to solve a problem that we're not having. The newbie who unthinkingly fixes a typo in their latest post is violating the same rule as the player who makes major edits to old incriminating material, but one really isn't a problem for the game.
The systematized approach might have some useful synergy with the odd mechanics of FHPBYOR, though, but in general, I wouldn't recommend it.
You know, keep the old way where you kick a player out for doing something drastic like PMing another player (has that ever happened, btw?) and keep the infraction thing as an anti-lurk measure.
To the best of my knowledge, we have not had that problem with PMs. It would be rather hard to see it if we did, though.
As for infractions as an anti-lurk measure, that's basically just replacing our general non-discretionary anti-lurking system with a potentially harsher, potentially less harsh system. Not a huge change. Could work better or worse depending on how and where it's set up. I don't oppose it as a concept.
