You're a champion, keep on keeping on.

Please take on a pair partner that is skilled at c/c++ though in the medium term.

Invite him into your home, get him drunk on whiskey, and trap him or her there.

That's all I had.

This escaped lunatic appears to actually be an escaped lunatic!

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

Maintaining the infrastructure of what? All we need is a basement, a door, and an iron bar across it. Maybe a food-chute.
I suppose we need at least a toilet too. He'd be spending much more money on feeding the programmer, mountain dew and fritos cost money you know.

Now that I think about it, modern practices suggest providing for your programmer to make them more productive, and its true a comfortable programmer will be more productive than one locked in a basement against his will, but is it more cost-effective?...
Of course it might not be as scalable...

Position them over a cage trap and give enough booze to cause unconsciousness and you'll be away.

Surely the mist from a nice indoor waterfall with cure all his woes and increase productivity as desired.
