Forgot to mention, you are back next to the habitat section of the ship, except outside it. There's an airlock with a hole ripped out of it.

It seems Maine has walked out of the room, having given up on solving this issue in a timely manner.

The door in the tree no longer features a long tunnel, but appears to be a direct portal into another area, dimly lit, with dark clouds overhead and a black sea to the horizon. The other end of the doorway is situated on black sand, and next to the doorway is a rowboat, moored to a stake.
