[20][14]In another training room, the one with your strange art in the center you focus your will. You remember how Alphira did it when she had control of you, the equation, the variables, what to move where, where to put a spike of energy, when to withdraw it to conserve your power. Flame sputters to life, barely visible in the bright room. But the heat is there, billowing out.

A burning hot fire dances on your hand, and you reach out, touching the spike of grey metal that juts haphazardly from the floor. It begins to melt, dripping down in molten globs of slag that sizzle on the tile before rapidly cooling in the ambient air temperature. You lit it burn until the gray tip of metal is in a pool around the spike, finally shutting down the process by shutting your hand. With the reference point gone, the reaction stops.

[20]This feels familiar, like putting on a coat forgotten in the closet. Its a simple process, one that feeds itself, and, at times, your own energy expenditure is minimum. Perhaps there are other uses for this.

Alternatively: attempt to manipulate heat to create air pressure and cause objects to levitate and move.

By what process?
By making multiple spikes and melding them together into a shape, by manipulating where the metal bends to be able to shape it

[13][9]Your headache worsens, even as you successfully pull the grey metal from the tile around you, forming it into a number of small spikes on the floor. You sit down, suddenly overcome with vertigo and exhaustion, but you press on, shaping and adjusting them closer together.

[17]You begin to heat the metal, sparking the fires to life without much issue--

[8]But maintaining the fire and trying to manipulate this strange, glassy, shiny metal at the same time is too much for you to bear, and you begin to drift in and out of consciousness, even as you're surrounded by burning hot metal.

[18]You, wisely, cut off the heat, falling to lay on your back, lounging in the air that manages to penetrate your senses with its warmth. Your head throbs with aching pain, and your vision swims. A medical personnel waits on the edge of your vision, sweat beading on his forehead even as he pulls you away from the heat, to a cooler section of the room. There, he rests you on a pillow, wiping blood from your ears and speaking to you in a voice that you struggle to hear through the distance.

"Pheobe? Pheobe? Can you hear me?" You look at him, lifting a finger towards him, and he nods, he tilts your head back, "Alright, just keep breathing in and out, try to focus on my voice, okay?"

You do so, patiently, even as you try not to drift away into unconsciousness. Eventually, you're able to answer his questions to his satisfaction, and he and a guard rest you against a bench. They provide you with nutrient paste, which you force down past the rising nausea.

"Pheobe? Are you going to be okay?" The Medic seems at a loss for what to do, squeezing your shoulder gently even as you eat like a feral animal.

You have thirty minutes of training left, before your meeting with the Thornton Scientist.

"How is hydrogen used in the human body?"
+1 (I believe it makes up water, so theoretically we could break the bones that make up water, drying a person out while burning them due to pure oxygen and pure hydrogen being very flammable. DO NOT ATTEMPT, just musing)

(Interesting.  If we could do that at range, it sounds like a good takedown without revealing our position.)

[3] "Be a little more ca--" The Medic is at a loss after your question, looking increasingly concerned by the ramifications. He actually backs away a little, seeming to perceive your question as a threat rather than true curiosity, "I...I don't know, Al--Pheobe? I...I wasn't trying to interrupt anything-- I'm sorry, Mother Alphira, you seemed in distress."

"That isn't a threat, and I'm sorry if I startled you.  I was just interested in the topic and thought you might be familiar with it."
