Honestly... beats me.  I like Superdorf's and VoidSlayer's idea of going behind the lines and finding those plague structures.

In cover, perhaps with other soldiers providing suppressing fire, so that the stronger fighters are free to fire with less danger of getting hit?

Too narrow of a view. How can you spread sixty soldiers over a battlefield that stretches across entire regions?

That could only be possible, I would think, with aerial vehicles and quick communication across vast distances.   Perhaps they would do best as a single unit, concentrated, rather than spread thin.

Over such an expanse... we can't cover all of it. Not in the way I'd expect.

Still-- if we know where our enemy's to strike next, we can move to be there ahead of time-- if we move swift and often, we can serve to improve the morale of those who fight without us. Is this, then, how sixty soldiers defend a nation?

This is -your- war. For all intents and purposes, I've been constrained to the ranks of the ancestors of our Line-- or else I wouldn't be giving advice and just -doing-. I think I'm the first, to be both an ancestor and the original owner of the body now inhabited by another. I'm awesome.

An air-deployed mobile task force, to help with the defense of hotspots and do critical strikes is my good advice. But how you wield your toys is on you.

Sounds good.  Thanks, Alphira.

Grin. Yeah, you are pretty "awesome" at that. Thanks for being here.

I believe Superdorf is being sarcastic, and when you speak internally to your...selves, time does move slower, but still passes

...I'll let that slide because I respect my elders. Regardless of your intent, you feel like Alphira still took it at sarcasm, but she doesn't seem to mind that much, returning the banter idly.

...

Emma has been playing with Mitch while you were distracted with other things. When you come to, she immediately stops playing, wiping any blood from her hand-- the wounds scab over quickly. "Right. How you dealt with her for this long, I have no idea. She went pretty quiet for me." Emma shrugs, taking up her pen and paper. "Anything you need me to do?"

No sarcasm intended! Is just a word I wouldn't normally use.

"It would be great to have radio communication spread across the line, so that we can respond quickly if any section needs help or has an opportunity for a particularly productive strike.  We'll also need one dedicated aircraft to ferry us between hotspots."

"William has acquired a cargo ship, and while it's not fast, its faster than walking. It can also load and unload while hovering, so that might be of use..."

"I don't know how you would set something like that up. Maybe each command post has a radio? Do we know the distance on the radio we have? Or does it just send a signal forever? If you would like, I could try and get some of our scientists and logisticians organizing something, if you don't know."

Feel free to correct me on this if it's wrong.

"Each command post should have a radio transmitter and a radio receiver, both of which work through the creation of a large structure called an antenna.  The larger the antenna, the greater the effective range of the radio.  Ask the researchers to determine the appropriate length of the antennae we will be using."

sounds right, radio waves are longer wavelengths than others, so they can pass through pretty much anything short of black holes
I’m not a radio expert and don’t know why antennae are needed
