Weapon: Halflight Lance Projector
...Because you're buying from Ursus Brachi, and the Halflight is the gun for your contract.
The contract committee consists of several non-descript men in suits and hats testing the various equipment. They seem to know what they're doing as they examine the K18, quickly pointing out that the weapon is quite heavy despite its shortened appearance. The accuracy leaves a lot to be desired, and one man notes with displeasure how the magazine must be left empty - else the spring may wear out. This actually seems to cause quite an argument, but they quickly agree to continue the discussion later with fewer prying eyes. The committee is, however, quite impressed with how enjoyable the weapon is to shoot, and though the weapon requires significant training to use they don't seem worried.
The Halflight is met, thankfully, without laughter. The low "magazine" size (1), high caliber, and dismal concealability of the weapon means it is quickly dismissed from consideration for the Unknown Buyer #5 contract, but the committee gives the weapon a test firing to observe the behavior of the weapon. Once the smoke had cleared and the paper target was swept up, they convened for a private discussion. They returned to announce that the Haflight was, unfortunately, not what they were looking for with this contract, but they can envision unique applications of the weapon for...other purposes, and that they may be interested in acquiring a shipment at a later date.
Unknown Buyer #5 selects the Rohnmohal K18 for the contract. Remember: this meeting never happened, and the weapons should
not be stamped (acid-washing techniques can reveal metal stress patterns from stamps that have been filed off, after all).
Imperiosa Infantry Armory #6 ($135, Spring 1922)Weapon: Exemplar Semi-Auto Pistol*
The Exemplar* is an elegant unmistakable design unlike those gaudy boxes every ne'er do well has now a days, it's refined construction lets the common officer easily disassemble and reassemble the gun for cleaning unlike some clockwork contraptions. A crisp clean trigger inspires even the most novice marksman and an 8 round detachable magazine means they should never fear being outgunned, while a respectable amount of recoil ensures they make those shots count.
Weapon: Cancer Adreptus B
We believe that the workmanship of our handgun speaks for itself. Not only is it elegant to look at, it is elegant to hold and shoot, the toggle lock produces a smooth recoil and natural feeling self-loading action with an easy trigger pull.
Weapon: NOPE Smasher M19
...It also has good accuracy for a pistol due to it's long barrel, imposing appearance, and fires perfectly at a 45 degree angle.
The Imperiosa Infantry Armory is met with
three contenders for their pistol contract - a surprise, since their rifle contract before had gone unanswered (though they admit they've only recently gained additional funding). The Exemplar*, the Cancer Adreptus B, and the NOPE Smasher M19 are all presented before the committee of sharp-looking officers. Both the Exemplar* and Adreptus B have distinctive profiles, but the Smasher M19 is quickly passed over as it's "just another revolver". The Cancer Adreptus B has a bottom-heavy covering with a gorgeous nickel coating - which is sexy, like a woman. The Exemplar*'s shroud gives the barrel a wide, tubular look that has a certain sturdy charm - respectful, like a caring father. The contract committee spends a significant amount of time arguing over which one has a more iconic look before finally agreeing to a test fire. The Smasher M19 is quickly forgotten about.
Luckily, the Exemplar*'s improved safety mechanisms prevent what would otherwise have been a rather unfortunate misfire, though the testers note the blow-forward slide tends to cause the barrel to bounce more while firing. Similarly, the Cancer Adreptus B avoids a jam that might have occurred had the feeding lip not been addressed - though there is a heart-stopping moment when it appears the magazine has become stuck before it's revealed the tester simply didn't press the release button hard enough.
It's close. It's
really close, actually. Yet, the committee admits they can't pick
both, so one must be the winner. Ultimately they go with the Cancer Adreptus B, as they believe it would look cooler sitting on their hip.
Cancer Felicitus wins the Imperiosa Infantry Armory #6 contract.
