The Shellfolk: Modify their digestive tract, allowing them to eat anything although still enjoying and deriving more nutrients from meat. Stomach acids are much more acidic to allow for digestion of stranger meals.

The Shellfolk: Tech +1

The Shellfolk: Use the stem cells to actively regenerate from any lethal wounds if in mortal danger

Speciate Galloping Octohorse
1. Make camoflauged against the grassland, harder to hunt [ss]
2. 'Improve' the herding instinct, to allow it to be trainable as a riding animal or beast of burden

(Might be a lost cause, but they're the main omnivore I have here, so:)

Speciate Secondarily Yunus
1. Improve the opportunistic feeding instincts, to maximise poultry snatching (from the huge Poultry Terrub flocks)
2. Improve brainpower- specifically alertness to danger (make it super paranoid) -  and send it to bask on the shores of Lauv Island [SS]

Improve Lifeboat Livyat, give it hearing with new ear canals (to better navigate the depths, and avoid the noise of dangerous settlements)

Meanwhile...

"Sir, the Soldier squad 34-67-37 has returned back to the base with a peculiar report at the fissure site."

In the domain of the Kō-Äh, in a dense, ancient, well-engineered growth of Orchards, two Kings convened. Powerful creatures these Kings were, possesing remarkable intellect, and great quasi-psionic abilities. Their bulbous, spherical bodies propelled themselves with a series of flippers and water jets. The larger and the elder of the two used these to manuever around, to face the smaller and younger King.

"You may tell me what this report entails."

"Sir, the Soldier squad have detected an incredibly strange creature while on patrol. It is an extraordinarily hot being, as hot as mountain blood, and is seemingly made of that substance, as its visage is akin to it. It is also perfectly cubical, and makes strange sounds like the Ravagers everywhere it goes."

"Interesting. Are we sure this is not a mirage of sorts? Or some Ravager sorcery previously unknown to us?"

"I can't answer that sir. But the soldiers in question had no flaws."

"Then we will simply assume that something truely anomalous lurks in our water. Whatever the case, we need more information. We must contact this being to determine if it is a threat to our collective. And we shall do this in stealth. If it involves mountain blood, then it is inherently dangerous. In this case, it is downright unacceptable since is alive and autonomous."

"What is your plan sir?"

"Pick your most trusted subordinates and have them commandeer Scouts to continue observation. Secure a perimeter and disseminate a cover up story as freak volcanic activity happening in the area. Contain the anomaly in that zone. Protect the collective."

Unbenownst to them, however, there was a third listener to their little conversation.

The mountain heard.

Turn 37

The Events
Power: 47
Temperament: 2

The Actions
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The World

Lauv island, as uninhabitable as it seems now, houses one giant, Alagadda-esque city populated by lovecraftian creatures. This development is the result of a chain of technological advancements made in Shellfolk sciences.

The city encircles the coast almost completely, only sparing a select few rocky cliff faces, and the inner, higher parts of the island, where the mountain, a shield volcano slowly expanding throught literal ages of small but steady eruptions, have become a kilometer high, with many slopes and plateaus for grass to grow. This place is now cut from the shore almost completely, and Lauv island is now two biomes.

The City of Kabuk, a medieval metropolis that gets its food from the sea, and Yayla Highland, a temperate montane meadow. Poultry Terrub has been moved to The City of Kabuk due to the Shellfolk becoming sedentary.

Greater Sweeping Dikencovy, Decisive Uncod, Roundgut Uncod, and Shorepeeker Yunus are extinct.

Exciting developments! Love those poor Hapsburg Terrubs...

Now they're settled, are the Shellfolk still giving their ongoing -10 to the highland and shelf?

They do not hunt in the highland. The low population is merely the pre-recovery numbers.

Also, direct consumption is not the leading factor at this point. Livestock are.

Team X2
Speciation and Growth
\Rebuild the Orchards of the Yanardag Shelf, restoring the forest. Their fruits born from sunlight will alleviate the food shortage.
\Develop a land-bearing version of the Orchards. No mind, just sturdy roots and fruit-bearing fans, a tree that can be harvested.

Long Term Hibernation
\Have Arks sail out into the greater seas, spreading to other areas.
\Develop an Ark for long term hibernation, buried deep underground and using the growth of algae to provide air and energy.

Warfare and History
\Develop obsidian-based equipment for capture, processing, and study of anomalous creatures.
\Mutate an Ancestor, bereft of mind but capable of endless evolution. The first in the line brought back to life for study. [SS Roll] (The first branch of Team X2)

The Shellfolk eat an infected Terrub leg and die of food poisoning.
