Looks like I'm out of luck then. I'd much prefer if you guys got a game going and tagged me along.

You can join... but not only is it not on Friday... but it isn't Dungeons and Dragons. So not much I can do to help.

I can do Friday for times between 8:00pm and 12:00am (Atlantic (-4 GMT)).

If no one else badly wants to run the game, I guess I could DM. That is, if the time is good for you, Yanlin?

Well, I don't have the time to make a campaign out of this or anything like that, but I'd be up for running a session or two this weekend.  A couple of short but iconic D&D experiences.  Gobling smashing, tomb raiding, orc killing, I think I can fit a dragon in there somewhere.

It'll be 4th Edition; I'll make the characters.  Six (6) players maximum.  If you sign up you can make a request on the type of character.  Those types are Tank, Heal and Buff, Damage Dealer, and Debuff.

But it would be very helpful if someone else could take the lead on recruiting and organizing the time.  Myself, I'm available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after 4:00 pm CST (GMT-6).

EDIT:  And Willfor, if you want to call dibs you can go right ahead.

No, I was just jumping up because it looked like no one else was going to. Actually, I might join in on yours since I haven't yet been able to play 4E. (I ran a few games of a 4E campaign, but my players never got to the combat part, so it was technically freeform with skill checks...)

We have a (basically) compatible schedule.

I'll make the characters

I am surprised people go for that. I despise games that take character creation right out of your hands.

Then again it probably developed out of the fact that several pen and paper rpgs made character creation soo difficult that people who knew the math were at least 2-10 times better then anything an ordinary person could come up with.

I am quite a bit happy that 4e fixed this to a certain extent.

In this case the reason is that I don't have time to walk people through character creation and I was expecting a pretty new crowd.  If someone with the books wants to make their own character or help other people make characters, please feel free.  But keep things simple, Level 3 characters, 22 point buy, Players Handbook.  Final Destination.

I have enough a head for numbers that I've figured out 4th edition character creation without playing it yet.  It's really not that hard, and is (to me) a huge improvement over the correspondence course of books and math needed in 3/3.5.  Also, there's an online character creator.  Handy.

If anybody does make a IRC/IM D&D group here I'd be happy to join in.  Fridays are great, but I've got flexible schedule.

40k isn't really in the same genre as Dungeons and Dragons

Unless you mean the New 40k thing where they DID turn it into a pen and paper rpg.

no.

But, DnD is too confusing. All the rules. That is why I quit. That and no one would play.

Actually, I think it'd be interesting to call the Bay12 D&D nerds out from their lurk-holes.

I would support anyone who wanted to run a D&D game (and I'd even play), but if people would like it, I've also got a world concept I've been mulling over that is a combination of Post-Apocalypse Sci Fi and Fantasy that could turn out interesting for a Fantasy RPG.

The whole D&D Online thread title is a might misleading... mind if I start a new thread?

The Bay 12 D&D Club.

Also, 4th ed. is a breeze to pick up on the player's end. That's one of the beauties of it... We have a complete tabletop RPG newbie in my current campaign, and she's already one of the best players.

That is kinda standard for online gaming. Most games are ones that go late.
