...I sorta ran into a hiccup when I tried to go up and down in levels with the <> brackets... usually I always had to hold shift for that, but for some reason I don't have to now, plus my Numpad isnt working like it should with the DF interface, and I am wondering if that has something to do with the keybindings option you put in the UI...
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe laptop keybindings are set as default after installing LNP. Personally, this does not bother me,
except for the fact that the expected <> brackets do not work as usual.
Because the <> brackes do not work by default, newbies
will get confused when they try to follow various wiki instructions and video or web/forum tutorials. Also, many
QuickFort templates dig or build things on multiple levels - and these templates will
not work with the current laptop keybindings enabled.
I was able to get around these problems by manually reconfiguring the
auxiliary "Move view/cursor up/down (z)" keybindings. That way, I was still able to keep the [,]/[.] keys as the primary up/down. For newbies, this is how I did it:
- At the DF main menu, press [ESC], then scroll down two options to select "Key Bindings." Press [Enter].
- Scroll down to select "General." Press [Enter].
- Use [PgDn] to scroll down about 5 times until you find "Move view/cursor up (z), aux".
- Press [?] or right, then [?] or down 5 times to select "By position: Shift+5".
- Press [Backspace] to delete that keybinding.
- Press [Enter] to add a new keybinding.
- Press [Shift]+[<] to add that as an auxiliary keybinding, then [?] or down to select "By letter:", then press [Enter] to confirm.
- Press [?] or left, then [?] or down and repeat steps (4) through (7) to fix "Move view/cursor down (z), aux" with [>].
However, I would recommend making something like this as default for the next LNP release.
