The Legends Viewer has the added bonus of being really small in filesize.

First off, I want to say I'm a huge fan of LNP. I'm grateful for the work done to bring the joys of DF to us lazy newbs.

That said, I downloaded the 0.34.05 advanced version and seem to be having trouble getting any adamantine in my generated worlds. When I use reveal there are square holes of nothingness in the magma sea and it seems like HFS doesn't even really exist. I'm not sure what could be causing this as I seem to get the same results with the standard world generator.

Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix?

At the very least, replace the link to World Viewer in the first post with a link to Legends Viewer, particularly since the guy who was working on World Viewer abandoned his project because of Legends Viewer.

If you get a release out today, I shall command my dwarves to build a giant monument to the cheese gods.

LAZY NEWB PACK [0.34.05] [V11] HAS BEEN RELEASED
I've also made an "Advanced" version which has DFHack/StoneSense pre-installed, along with Quickfort.

I copied my save (from vanilla 0.34.05) into the lazy new pack and tried to activate a graphics set for it.  No matter which one I choose when I launch Dwarf Fortress and load my save I get:

Missing Creature Body Definition: RCP_EYELIDS

Anyone else see this?

That's normal.
It's a raw update that changes the raws a bit. Don't worry.

This has probably been said somewhere, but i don't have time to really go through all the pages so i'll just ask: Does the newest version have dwarf hack integrated into it?

Look at the first post on page one in the "Contents" spoiler.  That post gets updated each time he makes a new release so you don't have to search the thread for it.

The game then exits, the EYELID thing is fatal.

Its a known problem with updating from .04 to .05. There is a way to fix it posted here
Essentially, find body_rcp.txt in Dwarf Fortress\raw\objects and paste this code into it:
Code: [Select]
[BODY:RCP_EYELIDS]
[BP:L_EYELID:left eyelid:STP][CONTYPE:HEAD][CATEGORY:EYELID][SMALL][EMBEDDED]
[DEFAULT_RELSIZE:2]
[BP:R_EYELID:right eyelid:STP][CONTYPE:HEAD][CATEGORY:EYELID][SMALL][EMBEDDED]
[DEFAULT_RELSIZE:2]
And you'll probably have to do this again if you ever install another graphics set.

Thanks for the new version, the Advanced version especially, is exactly what I was hoping for.

LNP - won't play Dwarf Fortress without it!

Suggestion: I think it would be nice if you added, say, two nice ASCII tilesets in the options in addition to the graphics. No wonder people hate ASCII if all they've been exposed to is the default one :P . I think that good tilesets that present the game in a very similar way that Toady intended it are important, both to give a chance to people to experience his vision, and because some things are just clearer/easier to understand (seeing cupboards on the worldmap, no punctuation in sentences and lookalike quality symbols is a bit confusing in some graphic tilesets).

As ASCII tilesets to add, I propose my long-time favorite the Herrbdog/Guybrush 16x16 tileset, and the new amazing one, Jolly Bastion 12x12.

You double click "Lazy Newb Pack.exe"

Suggestion: I think it would be nice if you added, say, two nice ASCII tilesets in the options in addition to the graphics.

I've already been thinking about ASCII tilesets. You'll actually see that I asked permission to include Vherid.DF
An interesting problem/opportunity is how essentially tilesets, graphics sets, and colour sets can be separated. (And really should be when dealing with tilesets alone). I kind of want to make LNP optionally deal with these seperately, but I don't see myself having quite the time atm.
Either way, I'll experiment with just some ASCII packs with the current GUI.

What are the cons of using the Lazy Newb worldgen parameters?
Sorry I missed this question before. Really I don't know! I created it long ago and haven't gotten any feedback on it. I think it has very few megabeasts/titans, fewer cavern levels, and I tried to force happier/greener environments with lots of volcanoes.

LNP ASCII Graphics Test Add-on Pack 34.05 (requires 7zip)
Just extract into LNP/Graphics folder, and next time you load the GUI you should have three new ASCII options.
Includes Guybrush 16x16, Jolly Bastion 12x12, and Vherid DF Warm 10x10.

Can someone give me feedback on this add-on pack, and if it, or what, should be included in an actual LNP release?

I really don't need to include all the Raws in each ASCII set, but it just makes sure everything gets reset from any previous graphics sets. 7zip does an amazing job of compressing the redundancy anyways.
